On vacation to celebrate my birthday which the W SD recognised by upgrading us to a higher floor and providing bubbly and cake in the room on arrival (thanks) - we had to wait a wee while for our room to be prepared on arrival and were treated to drinks and a basket of chips in the 'living room' while... Chris and joe at the rooftop bar were the most professional and accommodating bartenders we have ever encountered. They were very attentive and made sure we had the best experience possible! LOVE this hotel thanks to them!! Chris sent us a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for my friends birthday, so sweet. Very pleasant experience:)

Spent two nights at the W for work travel and was kind of excited, but my room was directly across from the new courthouse construction and it was incredibly loud and disruptive to my sleep. The hotel was really trendy meaning a lot of stimulation visually and audibly. It was almost too much for a business trip. The beds were... More

Stayed here to relax with my sis. Décor was modern and cool, although there was missing art on the wall, and there were light bulbs out so room was quite dark. No free Wi-Fi. Nickel and dimed for everything. Room was comfortable, though housekeeping did not come in until well after 2pm. Rooftop bar was quite nice and very close... More

I was in San Diego on vacation and wanted to see a variety of places. I decided to stay in the Downtown area and boy was I glad. The wait staff was polite, and listened to all my questions. They also offered me a lot of great suggestions. The room was unique, I guess typical of W hotels. It was... More

Stayed here on business. Staff is nice but doesn't go out of their way to help you, room was very comfortable and clean. My biggest complaint was the lack of free wifi in the rooms though they did have it in the lobby. Most of the hotel was very urban and felt like a nightclub, not really my type but... More

I was extremely satisfied. Above my expectation. Had time to sit at the bar, where the cocktails were ON! Mike was the bartender that evening, he was also concierge at times...he recommended great cocktails and local spots around town. Knowledgeable and an overall great guy who went the extra mile. Cheers!

Okay, location was set for a 2.5 day meeting by those that set up the meeting, not my selection as to a hotel. Contemporary, newly remodeled rooms, nothing special in size, but perfectly acceptable, good bed, for me quiet floor on ninth. Thought the restaurant's food was exceptional, and every staff member I encountered was friendly. At breakfast the person... More

On Wednesday September 5, 2014 i was in San Diego attending a meeting at another another hotel. I went to the front desk at the W and asked to speak with the general manager ( Michael O'Donohue). The gal went in the back and came out and told me he was unavailable. I advised that I had something to discuss... More

Dear HowardK, I am deeply sorry for not returning your call, and I am disappointed to find out your message never made its way to me. I assure you, this is not the way I do business. It is very important to me that my guests are happy and feel valued. In this case, I fear we have made a... More

It pains me to not give every SPG Hotel a perfect rating, but something was off here.... I'd probably stay at one of the Westins next time I am in town. Overall, decent hotel and we enjoyed the location for two nights in late August. Lobby was really cool as most W's are and we were upgraded to a Spectacular... More
