The Hampton Inn Downtown San Diego was all that we expected it to be. My wife and I are fairly frequent guests at Hampton Inns, and with very few exceptions have been impressed with the consistent quality experience and service. Clean enough but holy crap it's one a.m. and the train sounds like it's going to come through the wall..... every twenty minutes!!!!!! Rooftop pool is on the second floor but we are on the fifth floor ??? worst hotel ever more

A perfect place to stay in D/T San Diego. Located on Pacific Highway; only about five minutes from San Diego Airport; one block from the waterfront and adjacent to the San Diego Trolley line. The rates are very affordable; though there is a $12 daily parking charge. The parking is an underground garage which is not gated; just an arm.... more

Attending a convention at the Hilton, but couldn't afford to stay there. The Hampton was recommended by a friend who had used it on business and really enjoyed the breakfast and downtown location. You do need to be aware that the back rooms have a LOT of train noise, but if you are willing to wait for a front room... more

---Location--- The hotel was easy to get to from the Airport using the Metro Bus 992 (~8-10 min ride). Though, the hotel does offer free shuttle to/from the airport. We only used the shuttle service when we headed back to the airport. If you want to use their shuttle, remember to give them 24-hour advance notice. It was extremely convenient... more

We stayed here for a week during a convention, and it worked out well for us. It's close enough to walk to the Convention Center, Gaslamp District, Seaport Village, ferries and cruise ship terminal.
