The hotel was wonderful as always. It would have been nice if they had more information about the Mardi Gras as to the cost and how participation worked. As for the Mardi Gras it was a BIG let down. You had to pay $40 per person to enter and then pay for for food and drinks. It was more of... More

Since this property is a remodelled 1913 hotel (Hotel St James), the rooms are what you would expect: wonky in their layout. Nevertheless, my room was comfortable and thoroughly useable for a business traveller. Kinda odd, having the sink in the same room as the (comfy, newer) bed, but hey, it's not like you get to experience the thrill of... More

The staff are absolutely wonderful! We and none of our guests were told about Mardi Gras before booking or at check-in. One of our towels was dirty, there was a roach in our bathroom, one of the rooms we stayed in had a very old shower head, the rooms can be very dark, but if you need to close the... More

Great location, horrible rooms. I typically stay at Marriott properties, but was only in town for a day and decided to save the company some money (mistake). The room was so small (room 224) that you can't open the door all the way because it hits the bed, tiny shower that smelled bad and very loud outside. To top it... More

Two windows that were walled off. AC didn't work. Smallest room I've ever seen. Elevator access is terrible due to their age. Just not a business hotel.

I had the opportunity to stay there for a conference (Feb 2015) and it was a great place to stay. There was a great old elevator there from 1913 and was a great experience to try out. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Stayed on the 8th Floor just off the elevator. The room and bathroom were spacious as well... More

Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent meal at the restaurant. Room was old but clean and comfortable. Roof view and ambiance were amazing!

The things that some people have complained about are the things that we think add charm and character to this hotel! This isn't a replica hotel, down to the 1913 elevator it is authentic! the Ramada Gaslamp is located in the heart of a vibrant part of old San Diego. Everywhere you look are bars, clubs and restaurants! The nightlife... More
