The Westin is, or used to be, a upper-middle brand. Solidly four star, most of the time. This property falls far short of that. They must have marketed to frat boys for the holiday because the place was crawling with 20 year old guys high-fiving and shouting "it's 2013, [--]!" at the top of their lungs in the lobby. Our... James M - The Westin Gaslamp Quarter successfully completed a $25 million dollar renovation in June of 2012. We completely renovated our guestrooms, meeting space, fitness studio and lobby. We also worked with Starwood on two of their food and beverage concepts, opening Ingredients Grab-n-Go and Pinzimini Italian restaurant. It is unfortunate you did not feel the property and Westin's... More

It's just ok as far as Westin properties go. Great location, reasonably nice lobby but the rooms are meh. Actually the rooms basically suck. Smallish, showing their age with some build quality issues and just not that great. I will not be back.

Procurare - Thank you for sharing your personal feedback with Trip Advisor. I am pleased you found our very centralized location to be a positive, along with the price. The hotel went through a complete renovation/transformation the past two years. The redesign of all 450 guest rooms and suites was completed in April 2011. The modern room design is focused... More

I may have only spent $200 for a room on New Year's Eve (excellent location) but I've never been treated like such trash. We reserved two rooms and our second room wasn't ready until after 5 pm ( check-in is at 3). PLUS they were extremely rude to us when we had to go to the lobby to try to... More

We spent four days here this week in a standard room and had a great stay. The rooms are large and comfortable with pleasant decor in a sort of zen minimalistic style. I requested a quiet room ahead of time since we travel a lot and have had just too many bad noisy room experiences. We were put in the... More

Kamille M - Thank you for taking the time to provide Trip Advisor reviewers with such a detail review of the Westin Gaslamp Quarter hotel. We truly appreciate your feedback and the positive review. Westin hotels and similar upscale, downtown properties do charge for in room internet. Our hotel does have a couple of complimentary internet options - in the... More

I stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is in a great location- walking distance from restaurants and shopping. Convenient valet parking is available and my room was clean and spacious. If you stay here, request a quiet room. Unfortunately, my room was on the 6th floor and overlooked the hotel's 4th floor outside patio that's used for events. All the... More

The Westin Gaslamp Quarter looks like it has recently been remodeled. We stayed here for 4 nights in November and just loved it. We took our dog to Dog Beach everyday for hours of running around on the beach. This property has a great location; walking distance to shopping and restaurants, a quick drive to the beach, etc. Yes, the... More

We stayed at the Westin Gaslamp for four days over Christmas. Overall it's a good place to stay - especially if you don't want to rent a car and instead just use the public transit system. You can pretty much get to most places by trolley or bus (including the airport). Valet parking is very expensive, typical of most places... More

Stayed a few nights while visiting family. Front desk staff was outstanding. I was given a great room with a view of ice skating rink and SD skyline. Utilized valet parking as local garages were lower cost but no in and out. Lobby area is upscale and modern and breakfast was above average except for oatmeal which was runny. Wait... More

It would be hard to find a better location, particularly if you're looking for a hotel near the federal courthouse and federal building. Join the Westin club in advance and ask for a room on the highest floor possible -- the view is much better. If you don't want new towels/linens, that means no service, period. No trash taken out,... Nice hotel in a good location in the Gaslamp area. Lots to see & do all in walking distance. Room rates are very good. Great staff & management also. The hotel is well maintained also. We did not have any problem the 4 days we were there.
