The Dolphin is very clean & friendly...Family owned! The rooms are small but adequate. At first my wife was a bit hesitant, however after the first nite she exclaimed we gatta stay at more of these family owned hotels. Staff superb. Free coffee, OJ, pastries in the a.m. Overlooking the Marina with nice restaurants & Deep sea fishing charters. Public... more

The Dolphin has very clean, well appointed rooms, and a nice sized bathroom. Great location near to the marina with a choice of restaurants, and the bus into the centre stops about 10 yards away. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which always makes a great difference to any stay. Good continental breakfast. Free use of a laptop with WiFi... more

Nice hotel near the marina - lovely clean clean rooms, small but enough room for 2 people. Great owner and front desk people who are very helpful and friendly. Would recommend for a stay near San Diego more

I was only planning to stay one night and ended up staying for 3. Holly the owner, went out of his way to make us comfortable, he even gave us excellent trip ideas. The location is perfect, the free wi fi and complementary breakfast were bonuses and the rooms were extremely clean. I would definitely recommend this motel to anyone... more

I did not choose this motel. There was a family wedding planned near Point Loma and this was a close motel to the wedding location and the airport. It was inexpensive and close to everything we were going to be doing. All I hoped for was clean sheets. What I got was a clean, warm, inviting family owned with pride... more

Two blocks away from Shelter Island, across the street from the Sportfishing Landing, and in the heart of Point Loma, this motel features a full size mini-fridge and wi-fi (we didn't use). My husband took advantage of the breakfast of donuts, individually wrapped pastries, orange juice and coffee but I don't eat sugar so it was useless to me. Besides,... more

Dolphin Motel has a location and amenities that were really useful to us as we were flying from San Diego after a road trip around California. It's near the airport and near Avis where we planned to drop off our rental car. The wifi worked well and we could check in online and print our boarding passes for free at... more

It's old and unimpressive from the outside, but they pay attention to what really matters. It's a great deal for a great location ($70/night - in Point Loma right on the bay near the San Diego airport - 9 min drive from downtown). The front desk was warm and professional and efficient. The room was basic with the exception of... more

"Im going to get to the point. BAD:I had room 6. A corner room with no window's ask for another room but there was no more rooms available not blaming them for that. The free wi fi works like CRAP very low signal which means the laptop was moving very slow!!! For $66.30 a day not worth it. GOOD:The staff was... more

The guest is right about the wi-fi.The wi-fi was down for one day.All of our rooms have windows! With this particular room there was a west facing window with a breeze from the ocean --the window was covered with a window curtain--we are sorry the wi-fi was down for that day-and we regret the window was not used.

San Diego is one of those cities where there are so many lodging options, that you really have to sit down, do your research and ask around. After staying in San Diego multiple times, I finally stumbled upon the Dolphin while planning a semi-romantic extended weekend to the city, with the main purpose of spending time at Point Loma for... more
