There are indeed strip clubs in close proximity to the hotel, but since we only there overnight, we spent all our time in the hotel and weren't impacted by any seediness. Nice room, nice lobby, nice staff. Raunchy neighborhood. As the French say: " C'est So Cal ". Well-lit parking lot, though, and no noise problem. I would stay here again. more

We arrived at the hotel and were not impressed at all from the neighborhood. You're right next to the airport and there's a train runniing (till 1 a.m.) behind the hotel. The windows are very thin so you can very clearly hear the highway, if you choose to be in the front of the hotel, away from the train tracks.... more

We didn't find the area seedy (more strip malls than strip joints), there's plenty of fast food around, and you're a short drive from the beach. This hotel has been totally renovated and is a pleasure to stay here. I had stayed here 2 years prior and this time the whole expereince was excellent right from check in. The front office staff were very helpful in recommending places to eat and things to do. Rooms were very clean and the beds are unbelievably comfortable. Highly recommend. more

We have stayed here twice when we have come to visit our son at the University of San Diego. WE had booked at a Days Inn and were horrified at how disgusting it was. Stayed for two nights at this Hampton Inn while visiting our daughter in San Diego. Had a nice size room, though unlike most rooms on the upper floors, we did not have a balcony.
