We stayed here while visiting San Diego area to tour San Diego State University, but while there for the tour, we also visited Seaworld. This hotel fit our budget and it was a decent place to stay. Walking distance to Old Town, which was fun for us to go to on our first day/night there. The next day, we went... more

As a resident of San Diego for many years and now frequent visitor I can tell you that this hotel is an excellent value. Yes, it's a little dated and yes, very basic, but it's clean and the staff are friendly and accomodating. Since it's close to the I-8 entrance I thought it would be noisy but it turned out... more

This is one of the most reasonable motels in town if you want a place that is centrally located with clean, quiet rooms and helpful management. I've stayed in a lot of other places in San Diego at comparable prices (in Mission Valley, for example) and this is by far the best. It's not the Hyatt, but then you are... more

The positives: Across from Old Town and a short distance from the Trolley Station. The negatives: A very dated motel in need of serious remodeling. On check in, the clerk stopped helping us to answer to calls from people looking for a room. I've never understood why a business will making a paying customer wait while they cater to someone... more

Having found the PadreTrail Inn in the AAA approved listing I booked into this motel in spite of some negative reviews. I am unable to understand their experience. Our experience was just fine. The motel is very modestly priced considering its good location. We found it clean and we were well treated by reception. I would certainly go there again.... more

The Padre Trail Inn's website looked good, and the price made me think that it would be a decent place. Boy was I wrong. It is a complete dump. Everything is old and stained. I had thought that perhaps the stains were just that and it wasn't actually dirty until I made the mistake of looking under the bed. I... more

This is an older type of a hotel but I found their customer service to be great and there's lots of things to do in the neighbourhood. A decent Mexican restaurant is across the street; and the hotel is easy to get to via Interstate. more

The Padre Trail Inn was a very average low-end motel with 1970s fixtures and a dirty pool, but decent bedding and otherwise clean. Would have been fine for $75/night, but their summer $150 rate was extreme. Otherwise, staff was nice and location was close to the center of Old Town. more

I spent two days at the Padre Trail Inn with my adult children, we had to laugh to keep our spirits up. This place is fairly clean, but a dump. Ants in the room, woke up sharing my bed with them. The rooms are all designated as non-smoking, but to get to your room you have to crawl past the... more
