First of all, let's get our definitions straight. This is a classic example of a MOTEL, as in "motor-up-to-the-door" accommodation. It does not meet any definition for an "INN", nor does it come anywhere close to a "HOTEL"; Any review should be based the lower expectations that should accompany choosing to stay in this type of facility and honestly. I... More

Room was large and clean. TV and wifi worked fine. Parking was adequate, and was enclosed for greater safety. The location gave easy access to San Diego attractions. The included breakfast was a disaster. You were lucky to get a cup of coffee. Stayed there three days, usually got something if you waited long enough. The room, price and location... More

After booking two nights on Priceline, I arrived about 1 in the morning to the Padre Trail Inn. The sign taped to the door said "No Vacancy" and the lobby was locked and abandoned. Finally I noticed a doorbell, and after a few moments a woman came to the desk. She wasn't unfriendly, but perhaps had been asleep. She checked... More

What probably was a pretty cool hotel a few decades ago, this was one of my worst experiences on the road. Besides the fact that I arrived a few hours past the check in, I got to my room and saw the door open - the maid service was just starting to clean it. I waited 20+ minutes for them... More

I felt very special staying here. It was closest I came to living on set to an episode of the walking dead or an apocalyptic type movie.. Zombies in the parking lot begging for money, dirty carpets, peeling paint, 1980's style tv, stale cigarettes smell and yucky bathroom. Spend $10 bucks more and stay somewhere else.. Don't be a fool... More

I had stayed at Padre Trail Inn before and always had a good experience. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Old Town and the trolley. This time was different though. My room was in poor shape, light bulb in the bathroom missing, night stand lamp defect,no towels or toiletries, bed linens had holes..Upon requesting a different room I was told that no other room... Our first room was next to some young people that were smoking pot in their car in the parking lot. They came to their room at 2:16 AM and didn't pass out until 4:01 AM and I'm sorry I know that. They were very LOUD and Obnoxious and knowing they were under the influence was scary, so no, I did... More

Let´s clarify it- it is simple motel that fit its purpose for a short stay. It is not a hotel or resort and as such shall be judged according to its category. Compared to other motels I have stayed in US, I found it a very good budget option. Pros: -Great value ( paid less thn 50$) -Large. room with... More

Cheap and with a good location. However, that's just about all you can say positive about the Padre Trail Inn. It looks like it hasn't been decorated for about 20 years. Peeling paintwork, decaying timber doors and non-functioning air conditioning are just a few of the defects encountered. The breakfast was barely adequate. The pastries were fresh but I've never...
