We found this hotel because the price was right ($129.99) and it was close to the airport. It was much more than we could possibly have expected. The hotel has wonderful views and is near a busy part of San Diego and right next to Little Italy, a quaint gentrified part of town that has much in the way of... More

The. Hotel was very noisy when we were there. Had trouble sleeping at night. Also found the bed uncomfortable. Close to Little Italy.but would not stay there again. Had trouble with internet connection.

This is a pleasant hotel in a good location in Little Italy. You can walk down to the waterfront and parks or to cafes. Very close to the airport and San Diego Zoo. Small room with no storage space so would not be comfortable for a longer stay but it was clean and in good condition. Staff were ok but... More

Pro's: Location Cons: Tiny rooms, loudest room I've ever stayed in !! Unenthusiastic staff ( thats being poilte ) Just finished 3 weeks in California and enjoyed everywhere we stayed, except here. They could take a few pointers off the $77 pn hotel in Lone Pone. I'm not being picky, just so many negatives that I could list. It's the... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at La Pensione for one night on march 19th 2015. This place is right in the middle of Little Italy! Great location. I recommend trying the pizza place attached the the hotel called Napizza. Wonderful pizzas and paninis. The parking is very tight in the garage and not much parking on the street. Try to... More

Just a 5 minute taxi ride from the airport ($12) and you are right in the heart of Little Italy. The room is smallish, but the bathroom is very clean and updated. We even had a view of the Harbor from our 3rd floor room. Caffe Italia and Napizza are located on the ground floor of the building to satisfy... More

You're right, location trumps all! Thanks for staying with us and leaving us a review. Ballast Point is one of my personal favorite spots to go too, so good choice. We hope we'll see you again soon! More

La Pensione is a good place to stay and well-located, but the room is somewhat stripped. There is no alarm clock, no coffee maker, no microwave, and no tissues. The room itself was perfectly comfortable, the bathroom was modern, the internet was fine, but having no way to make tea or coffee in the morning, which is something you can... More

Hello, first off, thank you so much for choosing to stay with us. Most of all, thanks for taking the time to offer your feedback. We love hearing it. We're considered one of the most affordable, boutique hotels in San Diego, mainly because of our minimalist offerings. Instead of coffee/tea makers, we offer free coffee (and a pastry) downstairs at... More

Ahh, Little Italy in the middle of San Diego and La Pensione in the middle of Little Italy. Awesome location central to everything that is good about the Little Italy section of San Diego, and a short walk to the waterfront. Our modest 4th floor room was perfect for our weekend stay. Great bed, modern bathroom and a wonderful view.... More

We stayed at this quaint boutique hotel for the 2nd time recently and enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed it the first time. Its location is really quite perfect for enjoying everything about Little Italy, the waterfront, the wonderful restaurants, bakeries, Italian deli's, and especially their Saturday morning Mercato (Farmer's Market) which is the finest we've been to. The... More

Top marks for staff and location. The guy on the desk was really helpful. The hotel was decent, no complaints. Great for the price. Loved Little Italy and was glad we chose to stay there over the Gaslamp area.
