Because it is the best kept secret in San Diego. The location is absolutely amazing. You are in the heart of Little Italy and have a ton of restaurants to choose from, not all Italian. It is alsoa short walk to the trolley that can take you to Petco (as we did), the Gas Lamp, Old Town or shopping malls.... more

First of all, if you are traveling during the Summer, there is no air conditioning here! It gets unbelievably hot in the rooms. Opening the windows at night does some good except for the unbelievable noise from the street below (you are in the middle of Little Italy). So you can pretty much forget about sleeping. The hotel is poorly... more

I had a business conference at the Town and Country Resort, but I wanted to stay closer to downtown San Diego . I searched Trip Advisor for an alternative hotel to stay in and found the La Pensione Hotel in Little Italy. The hotel is in a great location and very close to the Trolley system. I stayed 4 nights... more

My partner and I stayed at this hotel from 23 January 2009-27 January 2009. The hotel is situated in a very nice area called Little Italy. It's very close to everything. If you want to make use of public transport:the San Diego trolley is a few minutes away! There are plenty of shops, restaurants and coffee shops in the area.We had the opportunity... more

After months of research for the best hotel, based on location, price and atmosphere this hotel had it all. While the rooms were smaller similar to what I experienced in Europe it was large enough for the two of us. We arrived early after our cruise and we were able to check in. There is a great coffee shop next... more

I've never checked out of a hotel early in my life, but we left this one after one night of a 4-night stay. The room was OK, management was nice, but it was way too noisy for us. The hotel does not have air conditioning, so you have to sleep with the windows open if it's warm out. This would... more

We actually stayed in the room for 2 minutes. It was horrifying and extremely misleading compared to the website. It was sweltering hot with no air conditioning. The bathroom was dark and dingy. The room was the size of a nice walk in closet. The parking is free according to the management. If you consuder that to be "find your... more

The location of the hotel is fantastic, number of restaurants and bars around. The room was small but clean, we couldn't park in the underground garage as it was full but managed to find a parking lot for only $5/night. The city and the Gaslamp District is walking distance (well... took about 20 mins) from the hotel. I would definitely... more

I have stayed here in the past, so I knew what to expect. The room is small, but clean. Housekeeping did a very good job over my five day stay. I didn't have a car, so the parking situation didn't effect me, and the trolley stop was very near the hotel, so I just used that during my stay. The... more

We stayed there four nights. The hotel is well located, near the trolley line, Italian restaurants, the harbor, etc. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a place to park our car in their underground parking lot. Yes the parking is small, but if you have a regular compact car it is ok. The rooms are small but they... more
