We stayed here with our two kids (3 and 6). The staff were very helpful, the common areas were very clean and the outside courtyard was very pretty with fairy lights and lots of plants and a hammock and ping pong table. Our room was small but cozy and clean with double bunk beds. Everything worked well and you can't... More

I loved staying at this hostel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The family-like atmosphere made it a home away from home. My only problem was finding parking, and that can't really be helped. Nights were quiet and the my room was comfortable and cozy. I will definitely stay here again, and am looking forward to it.

Spent 4 nights at H.I. The location makes this hostel worth it. The property needs some updating but it works. It's close to many downtown restaurants and bars. It can get loud, late at night with guests coming late. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is simple and good as well.

The staff was thorough in explaining how things work and what was expected. The rooms and bunks were very adequate. Meals were fun and very good. Location made it easy to get to local restaurants, library bars and downtown.

I went to San Diego on a small budget with a few friends and we couldn't ask for more! For $25 per person the hostel was a bargain! The staff were welcoming and the community really warm. With a piano, a pingpong table, kitchen, and an ATM, I couldn't ask for more.

Throughout my travels, I always wanted to take advantage of the savings of staying at a hostel. Yet, I am definitely not the stereotypical gone wild/binge drinking traveler that hostels are equated. Still, I am a part of the growing sector of travelers reconsidering hostels now that they are expanding their services to take into account families and non-partying guests.... More

I've been staying here quite a few times when deciding to do an extended stay in san diego. The area its located in is a great neighborhood much quieter then staying downtown, but in regards to nightlife there is nothing here since its in a residential neighborhood. Really to get around if you are staying here you need a car... More

2nd stay at this hostel, both were good experiences. I felt quite safe. The place is clean. The staff are very warm and helpful. This hostel has a fabulous kitchen with all the "upgrades." Beds are very comfortable. Loudness of nearby airport is a detraction, but planes stop between 10pm & 6 or 6:30 ish a.m. & hostel is relatively... More

First hostel with my friends during our road trip in California. The hostel is great, the accommodations are clean and modern - a huge kitchen, a TV room very comfy where we spent quite a long time because of the rain in May, and a patio perfect for sunny days. Warm welcome. Far away from downtown without a car, and... More
