+ Really nice hostel for young travellers. Directly on the beach. Next to bike and surf rental. Near shops, pharmacy, grocery store and bus stop. A lot of activities. Very party people. - Cold during winter because no roof. Some people had sex in my friends dorm. More

I planned a west coast trip staying at hostels in San Diego, Los Angeles and Venice CA. I had to change my travel plans and cancelled my room at Banana Bungalow noting that I had purchased trip insurance. Within an hour of my reservation they charged my credit card additional $20.00 When I called them about more charges put on... More

We hold your card for the first night's stay as a deposit when you make a booking, as advised on our website. The refund in question was issued approximately 14 minutes after your charge, and a full half an hour before you contacted us. As with all card refunds in the United States, the refund does not show immediately on... More

Staff are friendly, down to earth people. It's kept clean, there are plenty of activities if you don't have your own planned out. Primo location on the beach which you'd pay at least two hundred a night for at a hotel. If you need peace and quiet, stick to your bunk or the beach as there is usually beer pong... More

I decided to stay at Banana Bungalow in San Diego, because I just stayed at Banana Bungalow Hollywood, and was very happy there. BIG MISTAKE. For one, the staff here are neither friendly, nor helpful. Half the time they don't seem to be know what they're doing, and the other half, you see them lazing around and grumpy about something.... Thank you for your review, all feedback is greatly appreciated. There are numerous surf schools with a 5 minute walk of our hostel that we have close links with. You will know this because upon checking in our staff printed off a detailed list of all of them for you as well as nearby Kayaking and Water Sports centers in... More
