I was travelling solo and this was the Best hostel I have been too! Awesome location with awesome staff. Because the rooms are smaller, and there is a beautiful deck looking out to the ocean, you'll find yourself making more friends because of the common meeting area. Drinking nights were held on the deck and super fun, the staff get... More

Firstly, let me just say that I overall I had a great time here...met some great people, the deck parties are ace, the location is stunning...but the attitude from a couple if the staff stinks! It doesn't matter whether you're paying $25 a night or $250 a night, make us feel welcome please and don't talk to guests like they're... More

Came here with 4 friends because it was only 20 dollars a night and a few people had recommended it to us, amazing location right on the beach, and the people there are so friendly, definitely coming back!

I stayed at this hostel for 18 nights in total. Honestly, I stayed so long because I loved it so much. I could have gone anywhere in the entire country but I got stuck in San Diego having the time of my life. It's right on the beach, with an incredible deck on the boardwalk. There is a party every... I stayed here from 3-7th July 2013 and had an amazing time. There was a deck party for 4th July with all you can eat and drink for $20 as well as live music, vodka luge and the beach right out front. The atmosphere was so chill, with everyone there to have a good time and celebrate. Different activities and... More

My friend and I had the most fantastic time at Banana Bungalow! We stayed over Christmas and even at that time of year there was something to do every single day and night, from cycling up to La Jolla to parties on the deck to Mexico trips to a party bus into the city. The location is absolutely unbeatable, right... More

This place is right on the beach which is great for surfing opportunities, swimming or general beach activities. Eating meals and hanging out on the deck never gets old. The staff is very helpful and nice. They do a great job at getting guests together to have a good time. It is a clean place to stay.

People are drinking and laughing 24 hours a day in the hostel. If you want to sleep at night, go find somewhere else. One day I wanted to find the manager to complain about somebody keep smashing wine bottles for fun in the room at night, the staff told me the manager was drunk and asked to to come tomorrow.... Had so much fun staying here, everyone was so friendly and helpful and the activities the hostel organised were always a lot of fun (Sailing, bike riding etc). The only down fall was the shower in my dorm room was broken, think the bathrooms need a bit of an upgrade.
