I had one night left to kill in San Diego. I wanted to stay close to the park so I could explore it and wanted the option of exploring the gay bars at night. The place had a great location for both. I took the cheapest room available at about $120 and got the quirky Jungle Nook suite. Never stayed... More

We stayed for 3 night sat the end of our trip down the PCH from San Francisco. It was fun! We stayed in the Jungle Nook...quirky and kitsch, perfect for our "zoo-centric" visit. We walked to the zoo, and all around Balboa Park, in the rain...it was so nice to have our place so close! The location was also very... More

I travel a lot for my job but this visit was for a vacation. I loved staying at the Balboa Park Inn. I found the entire staff to be friendly and helpful. While there is roof damage from water, I never saw any actual mold or anything. I have allergies and I was fine. The rooms were far cleaner than... More

If you've read other reviews you know this place is different. We found that difference charming. This was our final stop on a round the world tour on which we stayed in everything from a hostel to apartments to a major chain hotel. This place is truly unique. We stayed in Harlequin, with a living room with a television and... More

I found this place a little weird. OK, a lot weird. It reminds me of an old lady's house. The lobby is full of unimaginable amounts of clutter. Picture a scene from "Hoarders", minus the filth. I stayed in a room called "City Lights" or something. The access was relatively easy, through a separate outside door. The bedroom was impeccably... More

First time at this bed and breakfast. Got there at 11 am and room was ready. Easy check in. I stayed in the Jungle Nook room which was just TOO MUCH FUN. Above the bed was an elephant head! The whirl pool tub and monkeys and gorillas around it. Also in there were 2 chairs a table and wine glasses... More

We stayed in #30 - Aruba. first thing you notice is the fish hanging from the ceiling. there are also fish hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom. apparently all the rooms have a theme. the room is not very large, but there is a mini-fridge and a small television. you won't be in the room much so this is... Perfect location for experiencing all that Balboa Park has to offer, and very easy access to everywhere else. Every one on the staff was not only courteous, efficient and accommodating, but also always cheerful - to a person. I now realize how much a cheerful staff can add to a stay. There is a variety of rooms to choose from... More

This inn is so convenient if one is looking for a place within walking distance to Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo and Hillcrest (many restaurant/bar options). The number 7 bus stops right in front of the Balboa and getting other transportation from there is doable (we didn't even rent a car, while we were staying there - and went to... More
