I have no major complaint with the Balboa Park Inn. They do nearly everything just right. Starting with location, the Inn is located across the street from Balboa Park. We are from NY and in our 30s so we enjoy walking very much. We walked to the Zoo in 10 minutes and the Old Globe Theater in 15 minutes. Just... more

We stayed one night in the "Beach House" Room. It was very nice in a different and whimsical way. Beach motif murals throughout and really roomy. The bathroom is enormous with a very nice jacuzzi tub. It was clean and comfy. The bed was really lovely...felt like sleeping on a cloud. It is a short walk over to the zoo... more

Since we were only staying in San Diego one night and didn't need a lot of space we opted for the $99 Aruba room. The room is small, but it's in the very back of the hotel and extremely private. We had no disturbances or noise what-so-ever while we were in the room, it was great! The bathroom is huge... more

I found this hotel on TripAdvisor and got pretty much what I expected. I stayed in the City Lights room for two nights. Everything was clean. Liked the fridge, microwave, free Wi-Fi. Location was convenient next to Zoo & Park. Very cute little neighborhood, but still close drive to beaches. Everyone was friendly. Felt safe for a girl traveling alone.... more

The Balboa Park Inn is heavenly! Quiet, clean, friendly and fabulous are only a few of the words that can describe this unique lodging. Close to the happening and hip University Avenue, across the street from the Zoo, I can't say enough about how much I loved staying in this hotel. Our room had a living room, a bedroom and... more

I stayed at the Balboa Park Inn for 3 nights during a trip to San Diego. I was very happy with everything, the location was great for Balboa Park, the room was lovely and the kitchenette very well equipped. The staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast in the morning more than welcome! I would definitely come again. more

We choose this hotel because of the location (really at the border of Balbao Park) and the variety of rooms. The rooms are located in several old buildings and are all different. We had Suite Sanctuary with full kitchen which was very nice. The price is relatively low, the service is good. The bedroom was not at the streetside and... more

The Inn's location is convenient and the excellent staff are friendly and helpful. We spent three nights in the Beach House room, which was relatively secluded and devoid of outside noise. Getting to the Beach House required a walk through a narrow "canyon" between two buildings whose sides are heavily covered with undisguised pipes (for water, gas, etc.). The path... more

We spent 1 week in San Diego. We booked the Balboa Park Inn because of it was close to Balboa Park. It was wonderful to walk to the Park and enjoy the zoo, museums and other attractions. We purchased some food and beverages and enjoyed a snack on the sunny terrace in the afternoon. The room was spacious and clean.... more

This is a truly hidden jewel. It is one of the most unique and welcoming Inns that I have ever stayed. I have been coming to the Balboa Park Inn for over 20 years and it just becomes lovelier with each visit. This is because the general manager and owner, Mr. Ed Wilcox is passionate and meticulous about the Inn... more
