While we have stayed in many B&Bs over the years, we have never stayed in one in a major city. The Gryphon house happens to be on one of the prettiest tree-lined blocks in Boston. It sits between Commonwealth Ave and the Charles River. You are in walking distance to Newberry Street, Museum of Fine Arts, Fenway Park, BU, and... More

We love this kind of place, original, historical, restored condition with modern amenities. The Gryphon house was all that and more. The location was perfect - parked our car and walked everywhere. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Loved the bed and the casual layout, I wish we could have stayed longer! Very spacious too.

Stayed at Gryphon House for a couple nights for game at Fenway in October, 2015 with my brother. One of us arrived in Logan Int'l on the "red eye" from LA at 6 am. We had called ahead and inquired if there was any chance to get a bed early. Gryphon House was outstanding in their efforts to help. Our... More

I'm glad everything worked out so well for you and your brother, and that we were able to accommodate you guys! We stayed in the Riverview room, which was wonderful and featured beautiful views. The spacious suite was decorated with arts and crafts furniture and decor, including lovely ceramics. We don't mind stairs, and this romantic setting provided us with a peaceful oasis after busy days in Boston. This had to be one of the largest rooms we have enjoyed at... More

Gryphon House is walking distance to the Prudential Center and Hynes Convention Center. It was easy to get to restaurants, a market, everything one might need. The room was clean and well kept. The tea and hot chocolate available all the time were great. The bed and pillows could use an upgrade but it was overall a great experience.

The Gryphon House is the ideal place to stay in Boston. Located on a quiet street in the beautiful Back Bay, it is nonetheless within a block of Kenmore Square with all its restaurants, shopping and T stop. The building is an elegant, well maintained, spotless Victorian double width town house. The Museum of Fine Arts, the Gardner, Symphony Hall... More

This is a nice B and B in a well-updated row house near Boston University. Good staff, helpful and polite: they put a fan in my room without being asked when the weather unexpectedly got warm in October. I had a huge suite facing the street, with a bedroom off a living space and a kitchenette. All the furniture was... More

Thanks for the nice review--we're glad you enjoyed your stay! Just a note on the recycling: because we don't have elevators and everything has to be carried up and down five flights to the basement, we decided not to ask our housekeepers to deal with it. We have large recycling bins downstairs and Tara and I sort the trash there... More

There's not much I can say about the Gryphon that hasn't already been said in previous reviews - which is what we based our booking on and were not disappointed. The staff really know their city and come up with many suggestions of things to do and see, not that you will struggle for this in Boston! When a room... More

One word says it all--Outstanding!! Great Location. Great Staff. We have stayed in the Garden Room twice and the Sanctuary and Morningside once each--all for 3 night stays each time. Never a problem. Always a pleasant stay. Highly recommend.

We loved staying at this clean well appointed B and B in Boston. We stayed in the Tuscany room. The decor of the whole place was great, loved having the in room fireplace and kitchenette. Staying in Fenway / Kenmore

Neighborhood Profile
Fenway / Kenmore
The Curse of the Bambino may have ended years ago, but loyal Red Sox fans will continue to infiltrate this home to historic Fenway Park, where you can find victory banners, people yelling in stereotypical Boston accents, and lots of sports bars. Located within Kenmore Square, the old gas station Citgo sign is another Boston skyline classic seen throughout the city. In addition to a hectic and diehard sports mentality, this neighborhood is also home to some of Boston’s many universities. Move from Boston University territory to that of Northeastern, and spend time at the famous Museum of Fine Arts. For more culture, check out the smaller but equally beautiful Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Continue off the beaten path and check out the green space in the Back Bay Fens, a pretty community garden. This diverse neighborhood has a mix of universities, sports, culture, and more residential green space.
