The hotel was very nice, clean and modern. The setting is unique, as the theme of the former prison is evident everywhere. Dinner at Scampo and breakfast at Clink were both very good - you need reservations for both. It is a bit of a walk (20-30 minutes) to Newbury Street (shopping), theater district, or Faneuil Hall, but not too... More

4* rooms (4.5* by American hotel standards) The newly renovated rooms are quite nice but not up to spec with the latest high-end hotels. Think refreshed Westin 2* views Twice I was placed in a room with a view of a brick wall several feet away 5* location Right next to Red Line stop 3* staff Mediocre. Doormen can't be... More

We spent a recent weekend at the Liberty to celebrate a birthday and had a very good time. The public lobby space is amazing because of the architecture of the circa 1850 building which has been converted into a multi story brick-walled atrium. There are comfortable seating arrangements throughout and waitstaff from the Lobby Bar regularly make the rounds. Be... More

Really enjoyed staying at this converted Jail. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Rooms very comfortable, great night sleep. Hotel is popular with the local crowd for a weekend drink, making it very busy at these times. Our room was towards the back so we didn't hear any of this noise from our room. Very close to transport.

The main suite offers the best views of the skyline since there is a spacious terrace and HUGE windows around the entire suite. It rivals the hotel's iconic and amazing lobby that's filled with so much history. I really think my only complaint is that the fitness area that the hotel offers is so tiny. The restaurants are fantastic and... More

From checking into The Liberty Hotel, there was a buzz of people going about their day without it impacting! The Receptionist was delightful and the welcome glass of fizz really hit the spot. The room was spacious and very clean. The attention to detail really give you the message you are staying somewhere lovely. You don't have to go far... More

In the 1970s, riots occurred at the old prison which is now the Liberty Hotel. The raucous spirit has lived on, but the prisoners have been replaced by drunk young adults. I have never seen a hotel where one has to fight through crowds of drunk people and bouncers to get to registration. The noise was so loud that it... More

I used to live in Boston and remember this place when it was a prison. Oh what a view these prisoners had overlooking the Charles river! We checked into the The Liberty late in the evening. Oh what a shock the lobby is basically like a huge bar with loud music and people hanging out. Ok maybe I am getting... More

The Liberty is an amazing restoration, first of all. Great location. It's impeccably decorated, the staff is friendly and efficient, the bed was extremely comfortable. Good shower. Had a drink at the bar...Alibi...cool decor and the staff was great. The hotel town car was made available for $15 in lieu of a taxi, and the driver told us there were... More

Look, it's not a Ritz Carlton or a Four Seasons or any other 5 star hotel. But it's just fine. Perfect for what I needed. Clean, safe, decent restaurants. We actually had a pretty good dinner at Scampo, the Italian restaurant on the ground floor. Good draft beer, ice cold. The chicken parm was pretty good. The stuffed shells were... More
