First of course... It's a Kimpton and that speaks volumes. This hotel is centrally located to Government Center, Faneuil Hall and the Garden. Nicely appointed rooms with comfortable beds and a staff that is attentive to your needs and eager to please. Will definitely make this a choice stop when in Boston again.

Onyx doesn't have the best location being as it is situated across the street from a job centre and around the corner from the TD Garden (home of the Bruins and the Celtics and the North Rail Station). Also, currently, there are road and construction work taking place immediately outside the hotel. However, don't let these negatives deter you from... More

stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip... The hotel is not that far from airport and the cab driver seemed to know the hotel by name... Checkin was smooth The location of hotel is very good but the only issue is there is unemployment office right in front of the property... People line up there from 7:30 in... More

Room was small; clean. bathroom on small side also. First booked via phone with Kimpton ; then few days later this hotel was on last minute deal on KImpton site for date I had booked 40 dollars less. So after some prodding, could not change price charged on credit card, but able to get free parking included which was worth... More

I've visited more than a dozen Kimptons including two others in Boston, Nine Zero and the Marlowe. The Onyx is the third child who never gets attention. It's very close to the North End--we walked to a restaurant there on Hanover Street in ten minutes. The Garden basically is at the end of the street, which would make the hotel... More

Smelt pretty bad, room was tiny with a very noisy air conditioner. Staff were friendly and location was great - particularly if you want to be near the ice hockey stadium and Faneuil hall and the waterfront. For 900 bucks for two nights we did expect better.

My wife booked this hotel, and said it had good ratings. What a disappointment. It's a vey small hotel, and neighborhood is not good (unemployment office across the street). The cab driver from the airport didn't know where the hotel was; not a good indicator. For $400/night, this hotel better have some good qualities, it was challenging to find any.... More

After a short walk from the Greyhound bus terminal we found the hotel down a relatively quiet downtown side street with local bars/restaurants in abundance. Very helpful staff at check in and a really nice clean and stylish room/bathroom. The outlook from the room lets it down however, i was able to see directly into a few other rooms and... More

We stayed at the Onyx for 2 nights on the way back from an international trip. We are a family of 4 with 2 small kids and got a good deal here on Hotwire. The room was cute, clean, beds comfy but small (doubles) and stocked with amenities...funky robes and a yoga mat! The service was friendly upon check-in. The... More

The rooms are a bit small, but we upgraded to a larger room and were quite comfortable. The staff was very friendly, gracious and helpful. At 9:45 PM, we had a pizza and vegetarian spring rolls in the restaurant that were quite good. Any part of Boston is easily accessible by foot, train or cab from here. I would definitely... More
