The hotel is older, the room was small but clean and we had a great view of the Hancock Tower out the window. It's all about location, location, location...and for half the price of other Copley Sq. hotels! I was pleased with its walkability to everything we wanted to see. The free breakfast was another plus. I got a room... More

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was the least expensive place we could find in the city center. We loved the location. Our room had an excellent view of the John Hancock Tower, and was right down the street from the Boston Public Library. The room was simple but clean. Staff was very friendly. The only problem we experienced... More

Yes, the hotel is old but it has charm appeal. The front desk people were absolutely wonderful to work with.Any questions they were eager to answer. They were very knowledgeable about tours, locations of events and best ways to get to them. The prices were about half of other hotels in the area. Don't expect 5 stars.

Excellent location but outdated rooms. Very nice front staff. Nice to have breakfast included. Rooms were clean, very convenient to shopping, dining, sightseeing. Having an exchange library in the lobby was very nice.

The Tuesday morning front desk staff was very nice and very accommodating. The room itself, not up to the price paid. Some lights did not work, there were little shards of glass all over the bathroom floor which obviously had not been cleaned (washed) for a while, vents were full of dust, tub shower/bath knob was broken, tub looked like... This hotel was a bit less than the 300.00+ going weekend rate for a Sept weekend. The size of the rooms very small- not an issue for me, as is typical in most major cities- unless you want to pay real big bucks. Bathroom really needs updating and had dingy appeal. Beds very cozy, overall avg clean room. Slight discount... More

Website pictures are deceiving- I guess I expected more for what I paid. That being said, this hotel was considerably cheaper than most other Back Bay options. In terms of amenities, you get what you pay for. The room was a smallish fine size- the bathroom was a relic of the 70s complete with molding grout. Wifi didn't work unless... More

Everything about our stay here was easy, convenient, and pleasant. An older hotel with smallish rooms, but very clean, quiet, and comfortable. We like hotels like this: the age gives it a little more character and you can tell it is maintained very well. Location is, as the name implies, a few blocks from Boston Common in Back Bay.Easy to... More

Given the prices for Boston hotels this was a decent, clean, adequate place to stay at a much better price than many downtown hotels. Nothing negative to say other than the rooms could use some updating. The Continental Breakfast was pleasant and served on a nice sheltered glass patio. Service was great. I needed a roll-away for one night and... More

People were great. Location was great. Room was really old, needed paint, old carpet, old bathroom. It was a good value, but pretty meager amenities. If you are wanting to spend your money on meals, tours, and other activities in Boston and not spend much time in your room, this may be a good choice.
