I traveled solo and was lucky to find a one bedroom upstairs attic apartment. Everything I needed in the room was there --- a Keurig machine!!! The breakfast selections are many and tasty. I spent 4 nights there without a single problem. There are 2 excellent restaurants on the corner of Burroughs St., just moments from this place. There is... More

I stayed with my best friend for 6 days in this b&b. When we arrived we were charmed by the outside of the house. When the owner came it was not a warm welcome like you would expect in a b&b, his dog was more friendly. About the dog, i like animals very much but not in the kitchen or... More

We are truly sorry for your experience. I'm not quite sure when you stayed, but the person you describe is not our usual staff person to admit guests. Jose is our general manager and should have been very attentive to your needs. We have also recently let go of an employee who was getting too many complaints for house-keeping, so... More

The house and landscaping are beautiful, and the self-service buffet breakfast was outstanding. I would love to have it again! It was a nice touch to provide the Sunday papers at breakfast. We didn't have a room in the main house but in the adjacent house. The bathroom was outside the room, although it was private. The room was spacious... More

This is a very comfortable, clean, and friendly B&B near the Brigham and Women's hospital and the Dana Farber cancer center. It's a nice place to stay anyway but wow, so much better than staying at a hotel when a loved one is in the hospital. The breakfasts were great and so was the staff. It's within very easy walking... We were very disappointed. First, upon arrival, the host (believe his name was Daryl was not welcoming & was dressed in workout clothes & appeared somewhat unprepared for our arrival. His rescue dog was much more welcoming! Our room was on 2nd floor at end of hall & the room door next to it was open & not ready for... More

We are truly sorry for this couple's experience at the Bed and Breakfast. They must have caught Daryl in the office back from his work-out. Jose or Dave are our front-desk staff and who should have greeted them with our Taylor House T-Shirt clearly marked. Our breakfast is generally ready at 7:30, not before, so not sure when they were... More

If you are tired of paying $300+ a night at the big hotel Chains in Boston, this is the place for you. Beautiful spacious elegant rooms some with private baths for $100 less then downtown. 10 min from downtown via car or Orange lLine. And within walking distance are terrific restaurants antique shops and boutiques of the Jaimaca Plain area.... More

I spent two nights at the Taylor House B&B and had the best sleep of my life! This charming quiet oasis was a perfect place to stay while on business in Boston. My room (Haffenreffer Room) was lovely - plenty of space and beautifully decorated. The bathroom amenities were great and the bed was delightful. I was most impressed with... More

Although we gave an arrival time, there was no one here to greet us. Instead, we found an envelope with our name on it outside the house with a map to our room. Once we got upstairs, we realized they gave us the wrong key. I called and they sent a housekeeper to give the correct key. (I must say,... More

We are trying to correct many of the problems addressed in this review. We now have 6 staff and do NOT put out notes anymore for safety reasons and wanting each guest to be welcomed and get a clear introduction to the house. I have also asked everyone to introduce themselves with their name and we have "Taylor House Staff"... More

The Taylor House is unique. It has been beautifully restored with great attention to detail. It is full of original art. We have stayed there twice...the rooms are large and interesting and comfortable. Each one is different from the others. We found the hosts to be very friendly. The breakfasts are delicious. We will try to always stay there when... More

A friend and I recently stayed in a suite at the Taylor House for several days and were delighted with the accommodations, wonderful breakfasts, and friendliness of the hosts. The house has been beautifully restored and the bedrooms are delightful.

Staying in Jamaica Plain

Neighborhood Profile
Jamaica Plain
This Boston neighborhood feels like a distinct community unique and separate from the bustle of other areas. Beautiful Victorian homes, restaurants with an emphasis on being eco-friendly and providing local and organic food, and a large Hispanic community. Visit Centre and South streets for restaurants, cafes, and little shops. The Arnold Arboretum is a beautiful, large green space well worth a visit if you venture to JP.
