I've been there for three days. The house is really lovely, furnished with a great taste for particulars. My room was big and full of light. The restroom was shared with a couple but I never saw them and was always very clean. The landlords were really perfect, friendly but never annoying at all. Breakfast was good, with some muffins... I spent a most comfortable four nights with Jane and Ben in early December 2014. They are the most engaging hosts I've encountered in many years of traveling. I arrived on a snowy Friday evening; over tea, we launched into a conversation which continued throughout the duration of my stay! They have lived in the area for many years, and... More

I really enjoyed staying here. It was very cozy-beautiful furnishings and ambiance throughout. The hosts were charming and friendly and fun to talk to. Lots of good restaurants in walking distance. It was like home away from home--really nice.

My wife and I stayed with Jane and Ben over the first weekend of October 2014. Their house is an immaculate period property furnished most appropriately and with great taste. They were charming hosts and we enjoyed our conversations with them. It should be noted that the breakfast is not a cooked one and the rooms on the top floor... More

We were in Boston for 3 nights and staying at Ben and Jane's B&B helped make the whole trip very enjoyable. On the first day that we arrived, they immediately offered to lend us their lawn chairs and binoculars when we mentioned that we were going to see Shakespeare on the Common. We love talking to Ben and Jane, not... More

Rarely have we found a place to stay that is so "us". A beautiful old house in Boston, full of quirky, fun collectibles. Jane and Ben are such lovely people, so friendly and welcoming, I am sure they would be friends if we lived in Boston! They gave us excellent advice and joined us for breakfast. Jane even wanted to... More

Having stayed here two years ago it would have been madness to stay anywhere else this time. Everything I said then applies now - the house is beautiful and the hosts, Jane and Ben, are most welcoming and helpful. They took time to chat to us and gave advice and opinions on what to do or see. When we went... More

This was a bed and breakfast experience unlike any other, and I have stayed in many B&Bs. Do not expect luxury or an overly decorated, "done-up" B&B. This is like staying with your favorite, easy-going, gracious friends or relatives - Ben and Jane - in their authentic, wonderfully unchanged, historic townhome in the heart of Boston's most beautiful neighborhood. You... More

Jane and Ben made our business stay a true home away from home. The accommodates were very comfortable even with a shared bath. The location was excellent allowing us to walk to all of our meetings. Fresh squeezed orange juice was provided every morning along with a selection of cereals and rolls. Yes you do need to be comfortable climbing... More

I recently stayed at 1863 bed and breakfast. The location is perfect and an easy subway ride from the airport. Even by car it only cost me 20 dollars from the property to the airport in the daytime. The owners are wonderful and very kind. They make you feel at home. They are fun and great to speak with. The... More
