5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013 NEW

Spent two nights in this beautiful home, room on the top floor back bedroom, no other guests so had the bathroom to ourselves - big plus. Ben and Jane made us feel like friends and provided useful information on roaming the city sights. Very central either for walking to Copley Square, Newbury Street, bus to Cambrige or T at Back... Friendly hosts, accomodating, very nice historic home. Neighborhood is very pretty and close to Back Bay Amtrak and T station and 10 minute walk to Copley Square. Enjoy the surroundings and the nice hosts.

A beautiful, comfortable house in a great location. Jane and Ben were kind, very helpful, and provided a great breakfast every morning. It was much better than a hotel because of the level of comfort and the kindness of the hosts. Highest of recommendations.

We stayed for one week at the end of October, start of November. The house is just lovely. A beautiful airy town house full of lovely furniture and interesting artefacts. We were on the top floor, back room in a spacious, light, warm room. So cosy. We were so pleased we chose this B&B rather than a standard hotel. Breakfast... More

We spent three nights at the 1863 House in October. From the airport we got the T to Back Bay and then walked 8 or 10 minutes to teh B&B, which is just off Tremont St. Ben met us, made us some tea and chatted for a while about Boston and what we could do. We were also offered use... More

Jane and Ben were very attentive and gracious hosts from our arrival to our departure. We had the rooms on the top floor (four levels no elevator) giving us good work out, but no one was complaining from the group (4 people). It was a scorcher during our stay and the window air conditioners had to work hard to keep... More

We are 2 seniors and we had a great stay for 2 nights in June 2012. The hosts are very hospitable and always ready for a chat (the very reason I stay in B&B). The room we had was large, air conditioned and with a comfortable bed and several chairs to sit. The only negative was having to take our... More

The house is situated at the South end in a clean and safe neighbourhood. I stayed at the 4th floor with shared facilities. The room faced the street but was quiet. The mattress was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was a real treat. Both Jan and Ben were excellent hosts and provided helpful advice on how to get around Boston.... More

The 1863 house is stylish and comfortable, and is a great value for the money. We had a room on the third floor with a shared bath. Jane and Ben are excellent, friendly hosts. The location is fantastic: in the hip South End neighborhood and less than a half-mile from the T station (orange line). We'll definitely visit again.

We had a great time at the 1863 House BnB. The owners were lovely, and the accommodations were simple, but very clean and well-kept. We had a room facing the street, but there was no traffic noise. The location is great, a 10 minute walk from the Pru.
