You hear the T (subway) going all night - I cannot for the life of me figure out how you can hear it from the 6th floor, but you do. And it is loud and impossible to sleep through. Sorry, I can't use earplugs and it is just plain ridulous that the hotel thinks they can get away with giving... More

Thank you for staying with us. We're sorry the rumble of the subway bothered you during your stay with us. When our building was built in 1896, the subway wasn't there yet! Rates do tend to fluctuate with the seasons & occupancy with October being the busiest & most expensive month to stay in the city of Boston. We do... More

We had a corner room & paid extra for this & can say the views were worth paying extra, service was very good, amenities were great, location was one of the best in Boston. However there is one very, very big issue here, the noise that is none stop & at no time was I told about this prior to... More

We appreciate the review. While we're about as centrally located in downtown Boston as possible, with that location also comes the sounds of the hustle & bustle of the city. We do our best to minimize the impact of the noise on our guests with earplugs upon request, white noise machines available upon request, & extra thick black out shades... More

Stayed here over Columbus Day weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Hotel staff were very pleasant and attentive. We had 2 rooms - a deluxe suite (which was huge) and a regular king room which our daughters shared. We were on a high floor which based on other reviews was to our advantage. Good location, nice and quiet during the weekend... More

enjoyed my stay at the Ames. The stay was excellent - very helpful with suggestions on restaurants and giving general directions. The rooms were clean and comfortable - especially the bedding!! Location is a huge bonus - we walked everywhere. I noticed a few reviews about noise - that is to be expected as you are right in the city,... More

This hotel is very modern, but the rooms are devoid of any regular amenities. No plugs near the bed, no door on the shower (supposed to be hip and modern but just completely impractical), no bathrobes (expected for this expensive of a hotel), etc. They were also very small. Overall my impression of the hotel was very bad. However, the... More

Thank you for staying with us & for the review, we appreciate it. We apologize that you don't have access to the plugs near the bed due to how the drawers on the sides of the bed are setup, but we can always provide an extension cord upon request & plugs are also available around the desk area. We're also... More

Getting to the Ames was a comedy in errors in itself - a long story involving Hertz Rental cars and their inflexible rental policies which meant I dumped the car at the Newark Airport and jumping on a flight to Boston with my kids instead of driving. When I got to the Newark departure lounge, I thought I'd try to... More

Hotel is classy and fun. But like the heading says, 'If I could pick this hotel up and drop it off at a QUIETER location, I would.' The noise from outside was unbearable. Thank God we only stayed 1 night.

We're incredibly sorry the noise from the surrounding area effected your stay negatively. Unfortunately, the downside to being located so centrally in downtown Boston is that it can be a very busy area all hours of the day & night. We do provide earplugs & white noise machines upon request to help with this. We can also try for a... More

Just got back from our stay at the Ames in Boston. The Great: The hotel staff were exceptional - everyone was so friendly and tried to be helpful. The Good: the hotel itself is very pretty and our room was lovely. We got a corner room which had beautiful arched windows a very comfy bed and we liked the European... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights and would have stayed longer. The room was spacious, clean and well furnished - the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly - and the location brilliant....an easy walk to many attractions, restaurants etc.

Ames Boston Hotel is right in the center of Boston. A glance across the street at the Boston Massacre site and a brief walk to Faneuil Hall and North End. Clean and comfortable. A bit noisy. Not so much from the subway, but from the sirens. I think it may be near a fire station. It was not bothersome, as... More

Thank you so much for the wonderful review. While there isn't a fire station in the Government Center area, the North End & Beacon Hill stations are both under a mile away. We seem to notice more ambulances & police cars though due to a Police station on the other side of Government Center & Mass. General being relatively close.... More
