I was pleasantly surprised from the moment I stepped in. The staff was extremely professional, helpful and friendly from the very beginning to the last good-bye. The hotel is in a great location, just steps from many of Boston´s attractions and the T. Excellent places to dine and shop within minutes. Our room was big, very comfortable with great amenities.... The hotel is nice, very clean and friendly service. Restaurant is not up to a 4 or 5 stars. The breakfast was poor in terms of value for money (ex. No scrambled eggs or any worm food). The biggest inconvenient was that we took a room "double double deluxe" to have two children sharing room with us and the room... More

Thank you so much for staying with, we appreciate it. We're sorry you thought our all you can eat continental breakfast was poor in terms of value, but we're always trying to tweak it to improve it. Our Deluxe Double rooms contain two double sized beds & are about 50 square feet larger than our smaller Superior Doubles. The size... More

We recently went to Boston and the rooms were very hard to find. We ended up with a reservation at the Ames Hotel. It was a great location, clean and quiet. We had a spacious room at the end of the hallway with no neighboring rooms so it was very private. I would definitely stay here again.

When a downtown hotel in a progressive city keeps women in the housekeeping department and away from the front desk and visible areas, it's worrisome to think of its policies and diversity principles. The Ames hotel is nice, clean and ultra modern (hip for a younger audience, and a little radical for the 40+ crowd). If you are a coffee... More

Thanks for staying with us & for your review, we appreciate it. We do celebrate diversity in our Front of the House operations with women employed as front desk agents, as our front office manager, as our revenue manager, & even the GM of our restaurant. We hope to see you again the next time you're in town. More

My husband and I were very lucky to spend 5 nights at this hotel, and we were not disappointed. Central, walking distance to all the tourist attractions. We even managed to get tickets for the Red Sox Baseball game against the Yankees and we walked , lovely tree lined streets on route. The hotel was very friendly, bartender was very... More

Great location for the financial district. Clean, safe, and friendly. The rooms are clean and welcoming (yet modern, if that's not what you want). The staff was great and very nice Beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean, and very happy with my night there. My only 'bad' was the shower floor was slick - that may have been my... More

Hard to believe any place is ranked higher ranked on TripAdvisor. Our stay was absolutely perfect. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and very helpful. Exterior is a step back in time, while the interior is completely modern. The beds are so comfy and the bathrooms are great.

We're so glad you had a "perfect" stay with us! Thanks for choosing Ames & for the wonderful review, we really appreciate it. And while, unfortunately, there are hotels ranked higher on TripAdvisor, we were recently ranked as the #1 Hotel in Boston by Boston Magazine for 2014! http://www.bostonmagazine.com/best-of-boston/2014/ames-boston-hotel/ More

Love the style and layout of the rooms, but I expect to be able to sleep in my hotel room and the street noise is significant. I think they must have skimped on the windows during the rehab. Too bad, because I love to see a historical renovation.

We're so sorry you had issues with street noise during your stay. We hope you brought it to our attention so we could try & resolve it for you. Being centrally located in downtown Boston, sometimes utility work happens overnight that we cannot anticipate but we can try and relocate you to a higher floor upon availability, provide ear plugs,... The hotel is in a nice building and is very well located. The room and the bathroom are very nice and also very big. Everything was great. Just one thing... skip breakfast. We had it once (during the week) and it's really not worth it. You'd better buy something at the market, which is very close to the hotel.
