Private quiet charming. Walk To BSO, MFA,Gardener Museum, easy red line to Harvard Museums, two ecellent restaurants, Robert, french, SRV just perfection Venetian. Host James met my every request and then tactfully evaporated. As a musical arty foodie, i was in heaven. Nice taste, so comfortable. So happy.

I have to say, The Gilded Lily is an outstanding place to stay. The location is perfect - not in the middle of hustle and bustle yet walking distance to public transport and most other places of interest. The room was gorgeous, totally immaculate and kept that way at all times. James couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. He... More

"As planned (or at least thought) I arrived at Logan International Airport to pick up a friend. I soon well maybe not, realized I was a day too early and my friend called me from Istanbul to let me know. After waiting more than 3 hours, I was pretty tired and not in any mood to drive back home. Fortunately,... More

Located on a quiet street, Guilded Lily is comfortable and well-appointed. Our host was gracious and helpful with information about the area. Walking distance to Back Bay Station, T stop, MFA and Gardner museum as well as Copley Square and Newbury Street. Also near great restaurants in South End. Room was very comfortable; en suite bathroom with all the mod-cons.... More

Stayed one night at Christmas time, beautifully appointed room, quiet, elegant townhouse in excellent South End location! Owner is gracious but unintrusive, continental breakfast (in-room) is very nice. Very good value on top of all that!

I surprised my husband with a getaway in Boston and we stayed at The Gilded Lily. The rooms are very well appointed and clean. Self-service check-in is also very convenient. Given that the bed-and-breakfast does not have a complete, sit-down breakfast, I was hoping for a little bit more in terms of selection. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay!

This B&B looks like a well-kept old Boston home with steep steps up to the door from the street. It is right by the orange subway line, within walking distance of the New England Conservatory and across the street from a great Thai restaurant and a pizza place. My room on the second floor was well decorated, clean and very... More

The Gilded Lily was a treat the minute you arrived. It's located in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. Every detail to make your stay comfortable and pleasant was taken care of. Our room was clean, and I mean clean, had 12' ceilings, an old marble fireplace and a very comfortable bed with all cotton bedding. You have 24hr access... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
