It was slightly dirty, and WAY too expensive for what we got. We elected a basement room with private bath vs. a third floor room with shared bath, and it was tacky remodeled little space, that could have been much better. Felt like we were in the former coal cellar. Stained ceiling tile, exposed nail in border between bath and... more

This is an excellent value hotel in a top location - ideal for enjoying the sights of Boston. We stayed in room 1 which was described to us as a large double and they weren't joking - it was huge! King size bed, incredibly comfortable sofa and decent bathroom. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept on... more

Don't even think about staying here if they offer you Room 21 for two people. The bed is barely 4' 2" wide with no headboard and projects into an open fireplace, so your pillows are forever falling into a black hole. The sink has no proper plug and the cheap rubber replacement I was given did not fit properly -... more

I stayed here for four nights during the high season (mid October). I was reluctant to book a room after reading some of the mixed reviews on this website, but I have to say it turned out to be a pleasant experience. The room I stayed in was a basic double bed with a shared bath, which I agreed to... more

I stayed here for three weeks in January. If you like cheap and a good location, this place is for you, as long as you don't have any standards. This place is "rough around the edges" and not so clean - think class/quality of some backwoods sleezebag motel. more

I recently stayed here with a friend for two nights in mid-October. I had done a lot of research and realized that Boston was definitely not cheap in terms of hotels. I read some decent reviews here on tripadvisor and so decided to book, paying one night for a shared bath, two bed room (#40) at time of booking and... more

The main selling points for this guest house are its location and its price relative to other central Boston accommodation. It felt a bit like living as a native for a few days, as we were very much left to come and go as we pleased (if you don't ask for service, your room stays as you leave it during... more

We had room #41 and #42 for 4 nights in early Oct. They were the same price but one of them was more spacious than the other. We had a problem with the toilet in #41 and we were greeted with "this is a new toilet". In all fairness, the problem was fixed. We also had no hot water one... more

We stayed in room 50 at 463 Beacon Guest House for two nights. They warned me when I booked that room that several flights of stairs had to be climbed, and they were right! My husband and I are in our mid twenties and in reasonable shape, so it wasn't un-doable, but we didn't enjoy it that's for sure! Our... more

We booked the 463 Beacon on the recommendation of the Rough Guide to New England and spent four nights there. The hotel is cheap for Boston and in a nice area, but you do get what you pay for to some extent. We stayed on the second floor and our room was likely half of what would have been a... more
