We stayed at this guest house mid October, as part of a two month trip across the states...Bearing in mind we stayed in all kinds of accomodation, ie road side motels, Self catering, hotels, even a sleeper bunk on a train! etc... Beacon unfortunatly was probably the worst accomodation of the trip...I am going to simply say it as it... more

We stayed at the hotel for two nights in the 5th floor. The room was small but the balcony was great! Actually I think that the room and the balcony were the same size. I guess we didn't expect much but for the cost of the stay the hotel was ok. The staff was nice and helped us with locating... more

I recommend that you don't even consider staying here: very rude employees (2 of the 4 we met) (the other 2 were very good); an ancient, small-closet-sized bathroom in one of the two rooms our party stayed in; no parking, requiring a 15-20 minute walk to a parking garage charging $30 per overnight; a generally shabby and uninviting place --... more

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights. We loved the location and that the hotel is a converted old mansion from the 1800's on a historic street. Our room was small, but we knew it would be as we got one of the cheaper rooms. Our main complaint with this guest house/hotel is that the room was dirty... more

We stayed in a large room on the third floor, and our friend was on the 5th. Our room was great, with plenty of space, and all basic comforts, except for a coffee pot which would have been nice. Dave was great, and gave us advice about where to go and what to do. Location was fantastic, and we had... more

It was slightly dirty, and WAY too expensive for what we got. We elected a basement room with private bath vs. a third floor room with shared bath, and it was tacky remodeled little space, that could have been much better. Felt like we were in the former coal cellar. Stained ceiling tile, exposed nail in border between bath and... more

This is an excellent value hotel in a top location - ideal for enjoying the sights of Boston. We stayed in room 1 which was described to us as a large double and they weren't joking - it was huge! King size bed, incredibly comfortable sofa and decent bathroom. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept on... more

Don't even think about staying here if they offer you Room 21 for two people. The bed is barely 4' 2" wide with no headboard and projects into an open fireplace, so your pillows are forever falling into a black hole. The sink has no proper plug and the cheap rubber replacement I was given did not fit properly -... more

I stayed here for four nights during the high season (mid October). I was reluctant to book a room after reading some of the mixed reviews on this website, but I have to say it turned out to be a pleasant experience. The room I stayed in was a basic double bed with a shared bath, which I agreed to... more

I stayed here for three weeks in January. If you like cheap and a good location, this place is for you, as long as you don't have any standards. This place is "rough around the edges" and not so clean - think class/quality of some backwoods sleezebag motel. more
