My girlfriend and i came from Montreal to Boston to see Tom Petty live in concert. We booked a room at this hostel and we were very satisfied. We're what people consider picky people. We cant stand it when it's dirty, smelly or when the place has bad customer service. This was not one of those bad places. It seems... more

Excellent place to stay for my trip into Boston. I was planning on staying two nights, but ended up only staying one night when my original flight got cancelled. I called the hostel late that night to tell them I wouldn't be coming in until the next day and they changed my reservation so I only had to pay for... more

This hostel does have some amenities that are nicer than other hostels (i.e. flip flops, bedding with 2 blankets, lockers in the rooms... just bring your own lock). As a single woman, I just wouldn't wander around the hostel after 9pm, as a few shady people were outside then. There is a share of alcohol consumption that goes on by... more

I stayed at the HI-Boston Downtown Hostel for two nights in March 2008, in a female room with 3 friends. The booking was very easy through their Internet Reservations page, I received a detailed confirmation email only a couple of hours later. We went to the hostel by subway and got off of the Green Line at Hynes International Convention... more

it is a very high level hostel: rooms and services are confortable and clean; many activities are daily organised by the staff; kitchen and dining room are big and full of nice people; coffee and tee are served all day long for free and breakfast is ok! I would definetively reccomend it, even if the location is not central (but... more

If you're used to a European hostel, you will probably be disappointed, but if you plan on spending 99% of your waking time out exploring Boston, and you only want a cheap, safe place to sleep, then this could be a good choice. The breakfast is a joke (there aren't nearly enough seats/tables, and they basically only have bagels and... more

It is December 20th 2007. I am in the lobby of Hostelling International, Boston. There are 8 computer stations here, for those without laptops. The cost is a $1 per 10 minutes. This is an attractive lobby where plants grow across from colorful boston murals. My room is on the 2nd floor. Bedding and towels are included in low price.... more

I booked a 3 night stay through the HI website. I then needed to change my booking from the Thurs-Sun to the Fri-Mon, and did this over the phone. Staff was very helpful and it all went smoothly. I was in a room with 3 bunk beds. The room and bathrooms were very clean and I never had a problem... more

Two of us stayed here for two nights and shared a room with only two others which was better than we had expected. It was really good value for money, and in a reasonably good location to get around Boston. As we were students travelling it gave us exactly what we needed, and breakfast was even included in the price!!... more

This was my first ever stay in a hostel and after reading many 5 star reviews I plumped for Hi Boston. Firstly the plus points. The location of this hostel is excellent, right on Back Bay; within easy walking distance to great bars, restaurants and the subway. The hostel staff were friendly and there was good internet access -and you... more
