Ideally located in Beacon Hill, it's a short walk to all the main sites and business centre in Boston. Clean basic rooms, with kitchenettes. Nice staff. Large lounge and included continental breakfast. Front facing rooms are quieter, studio rooms have small but comfortable beds.

Had to stay at John Jeffries for a conference in Boston and it was the best experience ever (not Boston; just John Jeffries). It was more spacious than shown online and the staff were very helpful. They were friendly without intruding on your privacy which was perfect for me. The breakfast was very basic but they had what I needed... More

I stayed at John Jeffries House as a solo female traveller in October. Overall I had an excellent stay. My single room was very comfortable, bathroom and kitchenette both very good. The neighbourhood is excellent and both it and JJH feels very safe. My only issue was poor wi-fi in my room, although I was on the top floor and... More

I needed a room for one night as my daughter was having surgery at MGH. Found out about this hotel from another patient at MGH. I stayed in a single rm. with a kitchenette. I was able to check in before 2PM. Short walk from MGH parking garage(left my car there--only $10. per day) The room was "cozy" but very... More

We were looking for a quirky hotel, in a neighbourhood location; we felt that this combination would give us the best chance to enjoy the City. This former nurses home within Beacon Hill, with its narrow tree lined streets, but within walking distance of downtown, did not disappoint. We felt this from our arrival, when we were attended to by... More

This was my third stay, but first in a single room. Location is excellent, across the street from the T-train station and within walking distance of the Gardens. Coffee and tea and fruit are available 24 hours a day in the lobby. Given the price of the rooms, I'm not sure why there is such a fuss over the breakfast.... More

John Jeffries House is in Beacon Hill section of Boston. Be prepared to park your car around the corner at Charles Street Parking, at a discounted rate of $27/day, with hotel validation. The hotel is near the T-train station which makes it handy for traveling to other areas of Boston. The hotel is also near the Black Heritage Walk, which... More

Love the price, and location..can't be beat! We will stay there again. We were Loaded with tons of luggage for a cruise, could someone have told us that they have a back door ramp to get the luggage in without rupturing something? We had a Delux Suite, but the bed is a double!?! The fold out single/sofa bed was AWFUL!... More

I slept at the John Jeffries House for two nights on a business trip. The single room was nice, somehow old fashioned but nice looking and had everything you need. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet. Door reception all night and good value for money.

Stayed there three nights; would be idea for an extended visit to Boston. The suite was a bit fifties-funky but clean and VERY spacious, with a large living area/kitchenette (with dishes, etc.), separate bedroom and large bathroom. It's very conveniently located within walking distance of everything, once we finally figured Boston out—about the time we were ready to leave. Friendly,... More

Staying in Beacon Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Beacon Hill
Visit this historic and ritzy Boston neighborhood to soak up its classic New England charm as you stroll down cobblestoned, gas-lamp lined streets. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path. Make sure to meander down Charles street to poke into boutiques and antique shops, cafes, and restaurants on this quaint shopping street. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse up close of the State House with its beautiful and iconic dome.
