This was an absolutely fine introduction to Boston (my first time there). The staff were pleasant enough and once you had checked in pretty much left you to it (which is a good thing in my book). The location was great, right beside the Charles stop, but most of the touristy places are within walking distance. The only thing I... More

A friend told us about this historic B&B but I did not realize the perfect location. We were able to walk the Beacon Hill sites, walk to the Commons and the Freedom Trail sites, walk to Cheers, board our Old Town Trolley 2 day tour just up the street, and cross the street for access to the Esplanade. The T... More

This was a return trip and John Jeffries is the best place for me to stay in Boston. Reasonable (for Boston) and super convenient, right across from the T and near shops and restaurants. The staff was helpful and pleasant. We enjoyed being able to gather in the inviting common area.

They offered and provided everything we needed and then were not in the way. This lead to an efficient, economical, and pleasant visit. My first time in a B&B setup. This is an old historical building and would feel that way but that does not get in the way of experience.

We stayed here from June 4 to June 9. All hotels were extremely expensive during this period and this was the only accommodation which was within our price range. There were 2 negatives. One,we found the staff unfriendly. The second has been mentioned before. Namely that coffee facilities in the room would be good. Although coffee is available in the... More

If you are in the Boston area and need to stay near Beacon Hill, this is the place to stay. We had a deluxe suite on the third floor. The room was great. Everything was very clean and updated. The property is a historical inn. The location across from the subway line is excellent. There are several nice restaurants within... More

If you are looking for saunas, weight rooms, tiled pools, etc. look downtown and spent 3 times as much. If you are looking for clean comfortable lodging at a bargain price (for Boston) this is the hotel for you. Friendly helpful staff, fruit and coffee anytime, good pastries and coffee for breakfast and a great location. It is close to... More

Boston was our final stop on our East Coast holiday and the city played the perfect host and John Jeffries House made for the most comfortable final stay! Booking & check-in: We booked directly to the hotel website and the staff was extremely prompt in responding to my queries prior to and after booking. The website is also quite helpful... More

Booked in October for a May Graduation. There were limited to none for accommodations under $200 per night. Found The John Jeffries House on TripAdvisor. The basement twin bed room was clean, had a kitchenette and private bath. The beds were comfortable. Did not find it noisy as others have stated but was toward the back of the building. Staff... A short walk across the skybridge over the expressway and you're on the Charles River Esplanade just steps from the Hatch Shell, the boat house, and a bistro that serves brunch and lunch, espresso, and jazz on Sundays. An easy walk to the Public Gardens and Commons down Charles Street, passing boutiques for clothing, paper, antiques and several fun restaurants... More
