My wife and I had a delightful time. I am not the easiest to please. Frankly, we found nothing to complain about. Great setting, sparkling(and we mean that) staff, tasty original food, and we plan to return. Stayed an extra night because we enjoyed everything so much. Paul R and Suzy

We have stayed at about 100 B&Bs in the last 15 years, even got married at one, and this will stand out as one of our worst B&B experiences, which is very disappointing and frustrating given this was our anniversary trip and we spent $398 (includes tax) per night to stay here. It saddens me. I don't like negative feedback,... More

Very sorry to hear that your trip was not as expected. Your suite did have some 'wear and tear' issues that have since been resolved, and we apologize if they caused you any discomfort. The breakfast, as you say, is very regimented, but that is by design. Our chef-prepared-gourmet-three-course-candlelit breakfast needs that structure in order for everyone to experience freshly... This is the second year my family has stayed in the cottage at WhiteGate during July. It is a lovely property and within walking distance to downtown. Can truly say that even after 5 days, the 3 course breakfast delighted us everyday. For all you gardening buffs, you will be in heaven! Take time to enjoy the breakfast conversation. Frank,... More

So from now on I will go with the Tripadvisor ratings. This B&B is rated #24 I guess for a reason. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. Happy hour was unimpressive. Hors d'oeuvre consisted of sliced brie and crackers and a glass of wine, that we had to search for someone to serve us, from the 1.5 liter bottle of cheap... More

Mark, I am very sorry to hear that you felt your stay with us was not up to your expectations. The reason your room was not cleaned was because your 'do not disturb' sign was on the door. Had you told us this on that day, we would have happily tended to your room. I would have to disagree with our... More

This was my second year staying at the WhiteGate Inn for a girl's vacation. We stayed in the Joyce Kilmer suite which was impeccably clean and well appointed. We had plenty of room for conversation, laughs and relaxation. The breakfast continues to be superb - no need for lunch - and the afternoon hospitality is delightful. The convenient location allows... More

Spent 2 nights here with my husband. We frequent inns in the Select Registry network and thought we would try something new on a recent trip to Asheville. Overall we liked the inn -- our room, the Emily Dickinson, was very nice. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the separate sitting room. The staff... More

First time for us, we'll definitely return. Stayed in the cottage, it was private and extremely comfortable. We were greeted with Champagne upon arrival and the evening social in the garden with wine and appetizers was great. Breakfast is absolutely not to be missed. Frank and Ralph are greats hosts and the whole dining room erupted in laughter several times... More

From the moment we arrived and were escorted to the lovely garden to sip wine and enjoy afternoon appetizers to the moment we departed 4 days later, we enjoyed our time at the WhiteGate Inn & Cottage immensely. We stayed in the Elizabeth Barrett Browning room where the bed was extremely comfortable and we used the push button fireplace even... More

The first time we stayed here, we were at one of the rooms in the main inn. The second time, we lucked up and got the Guest Cottage. A little bit had changed, but not much. Ralph and Frank continue to be consummate hosts, as well as providing lively entertainment while at breakfast. Wine and cheese every evening, and everything... More

Had booked a three night stay at this B & B in Ashville, after spending a couple of nights at The Inn on the Biltmore Estate, in order to more fully explore Ashville, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains. As we had only moved a couple of miles from Biltmore, we arrived mid-morning (far too early to... More

Nigel, Thank you for your candid review. The Robert Frost Room is currently out of service while we are having the 1907 china tub replaced. We hated to get rid of such a beautiful historic piece, but, as you say, it may have not been suited for practical use. We have had guests that absolutely love that tub, and some... More
