My husband and I enjoyed a weekend in Asheville and stayed at the Applewood for two nights. This is a wonderful Inn run by the most gracious hosts. Nancy and Larry really know how to make their guests feel welcome and at home. We had a suite on the 3rd floor which was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Upon arrival... more

When we first arrived, Nancy made us feel comfortable and at home. She anticipated any questions and we felt really relaxed that the residence was there for us to enjoy. We stayed in the Cortland Cottage which is separate from the main house and very private. It was cool outside, but the Tudor heater kept the cottage toasty and warm.... more

This B&B's location is ideal; 1 mile from downtown Asheville and the UNC campus, and about 3 miles from the Biltmore Estate. It is nestled in a wooded cul-de-sac, so it feels more removed from the town of Asheville than it really is. The complimentary wine and cheese served in the evenings is perfect after a long day on the... more

My husband and I stayed at the Applewood for a relaxing weekend in December, and we loved it. Nancy and Larry were wonderful hosts; we felt completely at home and loved visiting with them (and their two very sweet dogs!). Nancy went above and beyond to accommodate my restrictive gluten-free diet and is an excellent cook. The inn was spotlessly... more

We decided to go to Asheville for a long weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was one of the best weekend getaways we've had and Larry and Nancy had a lot to do with it. From the moment we arrived, we felt as if we were staying at a friend's house and not an inn. The inn is comfortable,... more

For three nights, and three mornings, our accomodations were the way we wish we could have all the time, all in a delightfully homey, antique-decorated setting. Between Nancy and Larry, we could ask questions about the area and the house and get great information. The adorable dogs, Mr Monty and Miss Maggie helped ease my cat 'withdrawal,' and the porches... more

Some friends booked a stay at Applewood Manor for us on a recent trip from California to the south. We stayed in a number of places including Savannah, Charleston, Santa Fe and Asheville. Our stay here was the best of all. Great location, fair prices, wonderful breakfasts and great company made this a real highlight fo us! more

Nancy and Larry Merrill are fantastic hosts who will do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. Nancy's breakfasts are huge and delicious; we couldn't possibly eat lunch before 3 PM! The main area of the house is always open to the guests, with multiple indoor lounging areas as well as comfortable porches on two sides and a gazebo in... more

Nancy and Larry are the absolute most charming hosts ever. Nancy's reputation among local innkeepers is well-respected and she is known to make her breakfast meals "from scratch!" We skipped lunch everyday after her three-course breakfast served by her very humorous husband, Larry! The Inn is welcoming, and beautifully decored. My husband and I had special requests that were accommodated... more

We had a wonderful stay in the Winesapp Suite. Nancy and Larry did everything to accommodate our stay. It was my husband's birthday and the whole trip was a surprise for him. Nancy made it SO special by coordinating a surprise bottle of champagne, chocolate covered raspberries and balloons on our last night of our stay. It was heavenly. The... more
