Crooked Oak and hosts Patti and Bear have in recent years become part of our lives. Free associating here: Annual anniversary weekends, stress-be-gone, perfect breakfasts (including our (my) idiosyncratic needs), hosts have become family friends. Rooms comfortable in every detail.

The is an interwoven bear theme in this gem of a moutain den right outside of Asheville. I'm not a luxury traveller, but felt a bit spoiled by the convenience, location, ambiance, and excellent service at this fabulous retreat. We stayed for a weekend getaway. The Inn is decorated in a beautiful and homey way ( with a bit of... More

We had the Chestnut Suite. Everything about our stay was wonderful! Bear was a tremendous host. The room was very clean and nice. Breakfast was outstanding, especially the pecan waffles! He provided us with lots of info about the attractions we were going to see, as well as some local insider tips. Very friendly and helpful. I truly hope we... More

My husband and I have stayed at the Crooked Oak B&B before. Staying in the chestnut suite, in October a few years back. It was lovely then, and this visit was no different. We had planned to come back in October, but due to some work, schedule changes we were unable too. So we opted for a trip in December.... More

Bear and Patti work overtime to make this the cleanest, well-thought out B&B experience - everything from the free snacks to holiday decorations, from the apple pie scented sheets (it wasn't my imagination, was it?) to the set of tea pots and matching cosies. My boyfriend is not someone who enjoys cutsey touches, nor did his 6'4" height work well... More

What a pleasant experience we had at Crooked Oak. Gracious, friendly hosts to welcome and care for you, great food, and the Chestnut Suite is beyond words with it's serene decor. ( I even had to ask for the name of the paint color) You looked out the windows and felt like you were nestled in a tree house..Another favorite... More

What a wonderful bed and breakfast! Yes, there are winding roads to reach your destination, but it is well worth the trip! Bear and Patti are excellent hosts and cooks :-) They were so very helpful in researching and booking dinner reservations for us, providing us with directions, and making us feel right at home. We enjoyed the rustic surroundings,... More

I am fortunate in that I now live in Asheville. I decided to celebrate my birthday weekend at Crooked Oak. As always the food was amazing; fluffy scrambled eggs, Bear's fabulous waffles, Patti's mountain granola to mention just a few. Patti and Bear are excellent hosts and are very knowledgeable about the Asheville area; places to go and restaurants in... More

We booked the entire inn so that we could hold a small family wedding for 40 people on the patio. Despite fall leaves that were well past peak color, temps in the 50s, and a steady rain, our daughter's ceremony was perfect and memorable. Bear and Patti worked with us every step of the way to make sure the smallest... More

This was our first visit to Crooked Oak Mountain Inn, but it won't be our last. From the moment we pulled into the driveway, Patti and Bear made us feel like family. Their warmth and their delight in having us visit was evident, and it showed throughout the weekend. The inn itself is lovely - there are so many little... More
