Old and musty...but a great location, reasonably rates, and friendly staff (despite the weird necessity of everyone in the party needing to hand over IDs and having to request the AC to be powered up ) make this a place we would stay at again.

Been staying here for years. This is a great hotel to stay in when you want to be downtown and if you're on a budget. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We have had so many great memories of Asheville and thanks to this hotel we can enjoy Asheville without having to spend all of our money on a hotel... More

This hotel is in the best location in downtown Asheville. You will not find better for the cost. That being said it is an economy hotel so don't expect any frills. The beds are comfortable and the room was very clean. There is noise on the street side rooms, but we were so worn out from all the outdoor activities... More

This hotel has a great location in downtown Asheville - we were able to walk to a lot of restaurants and bars. The rooms are ok, but they are still renovating many things in the property. The only real problem I had was the checkin process - they require an ID from everyone staying in the room - never have... More

I found this little gem of a hotel via TripAdvisor reviews...and was not disappointed! VERY convenient downtown hotel...clean and roomy. It's an older property..but the staff is prompt and friendly, and a great value for the money. The room was city-side...so it was a little noisy at times..but that's ok...there were plenty of activity/people watching opportunities in this busy little... More

This place is not fancy, but the price is amazing considering the location. Just two blocks from the Thirsty Monk, and blocks from downtown, it is my go to spot when I visit. If you're not planning on being in your hotel a lot, then this is the best you can get. The hotel is clean, don't get me wrong,... More

Recently had just a one night stay at Downtown Inn & Suites in Asheville after hiking the Appalachian Trail for couple of days around Hot Springs. We were very comfortable there. All was clean, the staff, especially Karen at the front desk, were so very nice, and we easily walked to dinner and around the shops. As a bonus, one... More

I knew this would not be a four star hotel, that was a given, considering I only paid about $100.00 a night for a four night visit, Thursday - Monday. Pro's = location, location, location and overall cleanliness of the rooms. Now for the cons = upon entering the lobby there was a very strong smell of air freshener, upon... More

1. This individual had three people in their room as a result their average rate was $100, for two people in the room our rates would have been an average of $90 per night. 2. We apologize for the inconvenience with the internet. We have recently signed a contract to bring Fiberglass Internet service to our building and we are... More

We stopped on our way through to Chicago from Jacksonville, FL to hit some of the breweries and this place was the perfect location for us! Many breweries within walking distance. Yes it is an older hotel, but it was very clean and we even had a fridge and microwave in our room. The staff was very friendly and the... More

My heart sank the instant I stepped into the lobby - old, cheap, garish (bright red and green paint), and in desperate need of a major makeover. The elevator's indicator lights didn't work, and the inside of the door was covered with linoleum (and scratched linoleum at that!). The room smelled musty (or smoky?); it looked clean, but how clean... More

Obviously this guest has a different taste for choice of colors in our lobby, though the lobby has been renovated and painted with in the last few weeks. The elevator is under renovations. Three sides of the walls have new paneling, on the back of the elevator door there is old paneling but not linoleum. About the smell of the... More
