The Black Walnut Inn experience was elevated by the friendly helpfulness of the host/owners, Lori and Peter. Extremely present, Peter sits in the dining room during breakfast and chats without being intrusive. Lori is gracious and rightfully proud of her breakfast menus. During afternoon wine and refreshments, several staff members appear to visit with guests both in the parlor and... More

My wife and I spent Halloween weekend in Asheville 2014, and based on reviews chose the Black Walnut B&B for our stay. We stayed in the "turret" room. The entire property is very well kept (especially considering its over a century old) and charming. Our room was adequate and interesting, but felt a little cramped, but we are not "petite"... More

Originally, my fiancé and I only planned on staying here for one night and immediately stayed for another. We found The Black Walnut through reviews and called for a reservation. Best decision we've ever made. Lori and Peter are such welcoming people! Every morning, they were there to mingle with all of their guests, making sure every person was comfortable... More

The pros: the house is beautiful and very well maintained. Rooms were quiet. Evening hors d'oeuvres and wine were great. Location was very close to downtown Asheville (by car or taxi). The cons: for the price, you can stay at at really nice hotel with more amenities and better service. The window a/c units had been removed and it was... More

This was our 3rd annual visit to the Black Walnut and, as always, everything was absolutely perfect. We got to witness the inn on Halloween night(a first for us). Lori and Peter put on an exceptional display for the throngs of trick-or-treaters and really get into the spirit! This was also the first time I had special dietary restrictions/requests for... More

I spent four nights there with my girlfriend and in order for them to accommodate us we had a different room each night. Every room we stayed in was beautiful! The breakfast was gourmet each morning and the hors d'oeuvres and wine was a welcome back treat at the end of each day. Peter and Lori and all their staff... More

Every October my husband and I love to go to the New England area. We lived on Long Island at the time. Over the years we have stayed in many beautiful BnB's in the New England. Within the last year we moved to North Carolina . The first October came and went and I really missed our New England BnB... More

We spent 2 nights here, Oct.1&2, 2014 and just had the nicest time. Peter and Lori are the perfect inn keepers. Shortly after our arrival we were invited to join the other guests on the front porch for wine and hors d'oeuvres (every night something different and freshly made). Peter would join in and was great at moving around among... More

My husband and I stayed here for our babymoon and were so impressed I can't wait to go back! It was central to everything we wanted to do and it was the perfect place to relax. Quiet and friendly--excellent food! Stay here; you won't be disappointed!

The Black Walnut Inn is located in a restored ca. 1900 home designed by the builder of The Biltmore Estate. It features large rooms, beautifully restored black walnut floors and woodwork, and comfortable sitting areas and bedrooms. The Inn is located on an originally fashionable street (now reclaimed with period restorations) only a mile or so from the center of... More
