We go to Almont with a very large family of 8 kids we stay in the cabins during spring break. It's awesome. The kids play in the snow and we play in the near by river with our water boots. It in inexpensive because you can pack your own food and use the kitchen. The kids LOVE the time sledding... More

The Almont Resort has been a familiar place to me fora long time. 35 years ago, while attending school at Western, I lived in Cabin #18. It was great then, but it's beautiful now, after a remodeling. Every cabin I've stayed in on the property is very nice, but I recommend the River House for families (2 four-bedroom/2bath units, as... More

The last 2 Labor Day weekends we have stayed in the Captain Jack cabin and have so many great memories. There is a small but very adequate kitchen and an outdoor grill and picnic table so we bring our own food and eat well. We love sitting out on the front porch in the mornings drinking coffee and enjoying the... More

I stayed here years ago on Fourth of July weekend and loved it. I returned this summer for a one nighter and was not disappointed. The cabin was clean with a big bathroom. The location of #7 Sitting Bull was great. It is steps from the confluence of the East and Taylor rivers. Fire pit and picnic table provided. Although... More

Stayed here with a large group. First afternoon walking back from dinner, we found a bear in the dumpster right outside our house. Called the front desk to report the incident. Was told "that's our bear!" Management does not take bears seriously. Overflowing dumpsters are definite bear magnets! Management should take precautionary measures daily to make sure all dumpsters are... More

Drove over from Colorado Springs to take in a drift fishing trip on the Gunnison. This place was recommended to us. I was a little leary, so had my husband go in first to the cabin. (I thought there might be mice or spiders). He came back to the car and said, "You'll love it." We did. We spent two... More

Our family of 5 rented cabin #12 a two bedroom cabin with 4 beds, living area and small kitchen. The location was right on the tree lined river. Do not expect this to be a luxury cabin with nice linens. It is camping with a tiny kitchen, microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom was clean and decent but there were tons... More

I rented one of the large homes for a reunion. The cook out equipment could have been better . Some of the kitchen dishes and cooking equipment was lacking but over all everthing was great. Nice and clean and good beds. Food in beautiful restaurant was great. It is a beautiful spot on the river.

While the cabins themselves weren't the fanciest, the location couldn't be beat. A two night stay right on the river was relaxing and a great location from which to hike and explore the Gunnison/Crested Butte area. We loved Crested Butte and enjoyed hiking the area. We didn't fly fish, but I can imagine this would be a fantastic location. The... More

The hot water heater, unenclosed in the corner of the bedroom, noisily cycled on and off all night keeping us awake. The bed frame, missing it's castors, is propped up on 1 x 6's. No heat in the bathroom, loud overbearing heat in the front room that does not reach the bathroom. No lamps in the front room and no... More
