We spent three glorious nights in cottage 104 at Chisos Mountains Lodges, and it was utterly breathtaking. OK... so the rooms are older, and the facilities not five star, but if that is what you crave, then the spectacular location would be wasted on you! The cottage has three double beds, all very comfortable, and a well equipped bathroom with good... More

Peace & Quiet to the max! Lovely, historic adobe & stone cottage with 1-foot thick walls and flagstone floors built by the CCC men in 1940. Cottage 101 is the most secluded of the 5 stone cottages but has only a view of the ravine between it and the hotel rooms with Casa Grande off to the side. All of... More

The hotel is fine. It is basic and a little tired but what sense would it make to have an outstanding hotel in this wild area? It is simply a comfortable and clean way to experience a wild part of the world that would scare away many survival experts. The restaurant was okay, wish it had been more consistent, but... More

We stayed in stone cottage 101. This turned out to be the best kept secret in The National Park System. Cottage was spacious and clean with spectacular views. Cottage 103 claims to have the best view, but all three are great. No air conditioning in the cottages, but with the cool air, we did not need it, even in mid... More

After years and years of back country camping in Big Bend, on a recent trip I decided to try one of the Roosevelt Stone Cottages (built by the CCC) in the basin. It's better (and more expensive of course!) than tent camping in the basin "with the masses". The cottages are off on their own, secluded in the pines, and... More

Our room fit our needs, clean, air conditioned (although it was so nice in the evenings we just opened the windows), access to a shower, a fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and ice. We had the convenience of the store and the lodge restaurant too. The bonuses were an amazing sunset view every night from our front porch, great friendly staff,... More

If this were some roadside motel (which the rooms resembled) it would get one star. Dark, musty rooms with stained carpets and the errant wasp and moth. BUT ... and it is a big BUT ... picture this room as a step up from camping ... with working A/C, a warm shower, a little balcony ... then it becomes a... More

The best place to stay when visiting Big Bend(especially during the summer). We were looking to camp but made these reservations at the lodge. Awesome view of the "Window". Fantastic view from our balcony of the rain, lightning, sunsets and stars. Wildlife everywhere - as a former park ranger it was neat to see the various wildlife. Pros - great... More

If you are visiting Big Bend - stay in the park! Otherwise you are in for some long drives. We were only able to get one night in the Chisos Mountain Lodge Motel. Based on photos, I was expecting the standard, dated, well-worn dingy motel room. I was wrong! The rooms were pleasantly updated and clean. I daresay they were... More

We stayed in a duplex/cottage, the beds were terrible and the toilet was so close to the shower stall, they were practically one! That being said, the staff was great, the views were amazing and we loved staying inside the park. I think I will try a different type of room during my next stay!
