The view was fantastic. The food was excellent. The accommodations were basic: a bed, a chair, a tub/shower, toilet, and a sink. Our room had a small balcony but the view from the restaurant, or even the parking lot was better. Like stepping back in time. We were not unhappy with the 1950-1960 ish appearance but the property needs functional... More

Attention: if you make your reservation by calling the lodge directly, you can save money. Using the online reservation service costs more. (The helpful person at check in gave me that advice!) Our stay was delightful. It was so nice being able to stay in the heart of the park. Experienced the sunset and sunrise. We stayed in a room... More

We had a wonderful time and while they could not accomodate us in the same room for three nights we fould both rooms to be clean and comfortable. There were Mule Deer roaming around the grounds and we spotted a grey fox when we were on Old McDonald Road. The food was fresh and well prepared with helpful guidance from... More

We have stayed here often and always love it The rooms are furnished in a Southwestern ranch style. The beds are very good and so are pillows. I would prefer the white sheet blanket cover rather than the printed bedspread. Maybe next time. Each room has a private balcony with two chairs. I recommend the A Building, second floor, which... Stayed in a motel room for one night. The room was wonderfully heated, the bed (one of two double beds) was comfortable and the place was spotlessly clean. Small bathroom with a rather low shower head. Fridge, microwave and coffee making machine, but no jug for boiling water if you wanted a tea. No cups suitable for a microwave either.... More

1. Last night we stayed here in two very comfortable double beds with fluffy pillows, good bathroom, surrounded by mountains. 2. Tonight we are staying in a horrible hotel in Midland, Texas for THE SAME PRICE because I refuse to pay $300 for a "nice" hotel in Midland, Texas. Okay, that's off my chest. This lodge was well worth the... More

Why travel to a national park? If you, like me, travel to a national park to experience the wonders of nature, then this is place for you. If you cannot live without constant Wi-Fi, cell phone service, electricity, cable TV, or regular TV, then stay clear. There is no "lodge" here. There are very simple rooms. Ours contained twin beds,... More

This is NOT a lodge and should not be listed as such. It is a motel at best. First I'll review the room itself and then the restaurant... PROS: -The room is adequate, it has a bathroom, beds, table and chairs and mid size refridg and microwave. -***The best room to get is in the A building, second floor and... More

The mountains are volcanic in origin but the lodge is in a basin up high not in a caldera of an extinct volcano. We expected a dry cool experience but for the first time in 10 years or more there was rain most days in spite of a clear forecast for 10 days before we began. Each morning there were... More

Okay, the rooms are BASIC--some maybe in a little disrepair AND you get locked out very easily (doors ALWAYS lock when you leave the room or go onto small walled off patio (READ: no one can hear you yell to open the door). BUT, I can't wait to go back. There is wildlife right outside your room, hiking trails from... More
