We called to reserve a room here and told them we would hold it with a credit card but wanted to pay cash when we arrived, we were told we would have to leave a $100.00 deposit. I told them we had stayed there numerous times and never tore up anything, we are christian people and just mainly would be... more

My husband and I attended the Blues Festival. He checked in and put our things in the room and then walked back to the festival. We didn't get back to the room until after 11:00pm. When he turned down the bed, there was pubic hair and a huge blood stain. The other bed in the room was harder than a... more

• To Aztec Representatives; • • I have to complain due to the timeline that this experience has weighed on me. Hello, My name is Mark Mattice. I came to visit family in Aztec last March as I always do about every 4 to 6 months a year. I was referred to the Step Back Inn hotel. My initial experience... more

I stayed at the Inn as part of an Elderhostel tour. The reviews are generally right. For us old folks it was fine; quiet, clean, etc. The cutsie "victorian" decor was at odds with the staff and the many notices posted which made it the least friendly place we stayed on a 10 day tour. more

I procrastinated in making a reservation for Farmington, NM. Unknowingly, the National High School Rodeo was launching that weekend, so there were no hotels available in Farmington itself. Aztec is about 8 miles from Farmington. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Step Back Inn as nice as it was. Very well run. Nicely decorated rooms with room names from... more

we drove into Aztec looking for a motel and did a double take when we passed the Step Back Inn. Not only is it stepped back a little from the busy road, hence quiet, it is also a step back in time in the way it is presented. Although the building structure seems modern, the decor is tastefully period, with... more

This is a standard family-run motel with nice rooms and a homey atmosphere. We stayed for one night, and it was fine. Definitely not luxury, but it has all of the amenities of the chain motels and the prices are low. The free continental breakfast was good, room was quiet and staff were friendly. If you want to stay in... more

I had business in Farmington but due to a softball tournament I had to stay in Aztec. I tried this hotel, but if I had to do it again I may have spent the night in Durango. It is old and for the price, it is not worth it. The shower pressure was barely enough to get wet and the... more

We had stayed here over ten years ago and we were traveling through the area this winter. Everything was about like I remembered it. They had rolls and coffee for breakfast. The staff was friendly. They will need to do some work to keep this nice inn in shape. Time is starting to wear on it a bit. It is... more

What a wonderful experience. The room was very comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing, quiet and enjoyable place to stay while in Aztec. The coffee, juice and cinnamon rolls were a great way to start the day. We will certainly choose Step Back Inn when we return to Aztec. more
