The hotel really is a bit like your Great Aunt's frilly guest room, for better or worse (a matter of taste). It is clean and rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, and the price is right, which is all the important stuff. It's quiet, for sure - almost maybe too quiet, as in, it was so immaculately silent in the... More

Loved staying at the Step Back Inn!! The family and I were visiting my Dad, who lives in Aztec, at the same time as other family members were. Had to get a motel room. Didn't want to drive to Farmington just to sleep. Checked out 2 of the 3 motels. Not only was Step Back Inn closer but cheaper. We... More

Made to be a cute place but sometimes a little expensive for the value if it's during tourist season. The nearby Aztec Cafe is good for Indian fry bread, tacos. i don't have anything else to say about this place, but Travelocity won't take my review unless I have 200 characters.

We really like this Victorian themed inn - it feels like going to visit your great aunt's house and staying in her frilly bedroom. The owners truly treat you as a guest and each room is named after a historic family from Aztec - a nice touch for those of us who like history. Comfortable, clean and in a great... More

Enjoy the laid back hospitality of this old fashioned Inn - tastefully decorated with period wall paper and furniture. Good information about the local area and beyond - i kilometre from Aztec National Monument. Breakfast is basic, if you have the time, would recommend skipping breakfast at the Inn at walking up to the Bistro or grabbing a coffee at... More

A charming and pleasant location filled with history. The hotel is well maintained, with antiques and photographs everywhere. The staff is very personable and friendly. Breakfast rolls are served in the morning, with coffee or tea, by the hotel receptionist. I was treated more like a visiting family member than a mere customer. Could have used a desk, in my... More

Not perhaps for the business traveler or for the one night stand in-and-out hurried traveler, but if you plan to stay for a few nights and do some things in or around Aztec, this is an excellent choice. My stay there this weekend was flawless from my perspective. Breakfast needs to be supplemented by Safeway across the street or by... More

A great location in Aztec. Easy access to main street. We came for the Aztec Celtic festival, and this hotel is probably a half-mile away. The room was very clean and well decorated. The cinamon role for breakfast was great. Anyone who doesn't like this motel is too hard to please.

My daughter and I were traveling through New Mexico and decided to find somewhere to stay in Aztec. The Step Back Inn was great! Staff super friendly and the rooms and decor were all history! Each of the pioneer families were represented by naming the rooms and many pictures and antiques adorned the hallways and the rooms. Jasmine grew outside... More
