Love the ponies!! 1st day got to see them on the beach. Got lots of good picks of the ponies with the sunset and ocean. Oh and me with the ponies. The neighbors however I could have done without. They were allowed to come in well after 11. They made as much noise as humanly possible. The rest of the... More

My family and I absolutely love camping at this State Park. We have been going since 2013 and from that first 2-day trip, have vowed that this is an annual MUST place to go. This year we are scheduled to go during 4th of July which should provide an awesome view of the O.C. fireworks. Other reviews have provided all... More

Assateague Island State Park is a must for places to go. To see the wild horses in their natural environment on the island/beach was amazing. Camp Grounds where occupied, do this must be the spot for Campers. Short drive from OC,MD

I highly recommend Assateague, this is for real campers. Don't waste your time with Castaway or Frontier Town that has sites right on top of you and the annoying golf carts. At Assateague you actually have to watch your children unlike those other places where the kids seem to run rampant. Plenty of space, the bath houses are kept clean,... More

My husband and I stayed in Loop H site 38 in April of this year for 5 days. The bath house (although not remodeled yet) was extremely clean and always had TP available. The showers were just hot enough despite the chilly April temperature. There are two large slop sinks on the opposite side of the bathhouse making it easy... More

We love this place. BUT over the years we have learned a few things: 1. Reserving a site has become insane. Most people sit at a computer on opening day waiting to reserve the site they want, because the parks (both State and National) fill up so fast. July and August get filled VERY quickly. Even so, 2. AVOID the... More

We have camped here more than one time each summer for several years and just love it. The campground is very barren with not much in the way of vegetation in some areas. There are no trees for shade if that is something you like. As long as the wind is coming off the ocean the mosquitoes and flies are... More

I took the family beach camping in a tent with other families. The site was excellent and we were easy walking distance to the beach and the bathrooms. I must say the bathrooms are the nicest I've seen at a state park. On a Friday, the commute from Northern VA was about 5+ hours (bad accident on 50). I can't... More

We visited Assateague State Park for four nights at the beginning of October, in our 32' Class C RV. I was able to secure the reservation way back in December of the preceding year, so we had 10 months to get excited for this trip, and it did not disappoint! Our campsite was in Loop H, which had an electric... More
