We went camping in April. It was very windy (we had great long tent pegs) and very cold (night was 34F). An aggressive horse crept up behind my wife at lunchtime and stole the sandwich she was making on the tailgate of my pickup. That night, we were joined by another couple at our fire. They forgot some chocolate in... More

If you're driving to see the ponies, keep in mind that you'll be lucky if you actually catch a glimpse of them! We've never done the camping there but I believe it's dry so be prepared! The welcome center is a nice rainy day trip.

This is such an amazing place. The horses, deer and rabbits are everywhere!!!! The beach seems secluded even when the campground is completely booked. Quiet hours are respected. Great family experience. Will be going back at least once a year! Bring insect repellent for Mosquitos.

I found it was just a bit too much for the first time. The traffic is bad,and the foot traffic is not a lot more than the people who are not paying attention to the warning signs that are posted on the roads.Overpriced and the food was just food. Will visit again, but hope the rest of the world obeys the... More

A wonderful place to enjoy the beach on a budget. Camping may not be for everybody but this is a fantastic location. This is basic camping with a pad, picnic table and fire ring with a few limited sights with electric hook-up. They do have bath houses with flushing toilets and hot showers that are well stocked but could be... More

A wonderful natural escape to nature that is minutes from summer vacation madness. Just 20 minutes from the sea of people known as Ocean City Md, lies Assateague State Park camping. The beaches have virtually no one on them. Play frisbee, bring your dog, set up a sun shade, or just enjoy the tranquility of sand and surf. There are... More

It was beautiful and we loved everything except the mass amounts of mosquitoes. We loved the ability to get up early in the morning and practically have the beach to ourselves and watch the sunrise. Or just go for a stroll along the beach. There were several activities that came free with our stay like yoga on the beach. The... More

We have been going here for 30 years and not much has changed. That's mostly a good thing. The beaches and atmosphere have remained beautiful and serene. The rangers keep those tending toward misbehavior under control. Even in the midst of summer, the beaches along the camping loops are uncrowded. Don't expect lifeguards and ice cream vendors along this section... More

Love the ponies!! 1st day got to see them on the beach. Got lots of good picks of the ponies with the sunset and ocean. Oh and me with the ponies. The neighbors however I could have done without. They were allowed to come in well after 11. They made as much noise as humanly possible. The rest of the... More

My family and I absolutely love camping at this State Park. We have been going since 2013 and from that first 2-day trip, have vowed that this is an annual MUST place to go. This year we are scheduled to go during 4th of July which should provide an awesome view of the O.C. fireworks. Other reviews have provided all... More
