We thoroughly enjoyed a one-night stay in this remarkably peaceful setting, and admired the careful way in which this near-100 year old house has been restored, surrounded by a spacious verandah. We loved the comfortable, almost minimalist, Maple View room, and the superb breakfast, with charming and informed service from Chris. It’s about a 15 minute walk down a quiet... More

We had a delightful time at Laurel Lodge in Harpers Ferry. Chris is the perfect host, and his attention to detail was amazing from the moment we arrived until we (reluctactly) left. The view is spectacular, as is breakfast each morning. The lodge, which is immaculately kept, is just rustic enough to be relaxed and inviting yet beautifully appointed. We... More

Chris and Ed are wonderful hosts, and the property is amazing. The house was immaculate inside and out and very comfortable. Our four course home cooked gourmet breakfast was then followed by a very in depth and detailed tour of the property courtesy of proprieter, Chris. If you are into history, craftsmenship, unique architecture, and top notch service, look no... More

Laurel Lodge is a spacious, picturesque historical property just uphill from the busier downtown area of Harpers Ferry, offering a quiet and comfortable retreat from a day of sightseeing. The innkeepers were knowledgeable, attentive and very gracious. Our room was very well appointed and immaculately kept. Linens were high quality and the bed was made so nicely. The inn's modern... We had far too short a stay at Laurel. I such a historic place it is fitting to stay at a historic home that was fastidiously refurbished with all the modern amenities.

This place was just great. Wonderful early 20th century Arts & Crafts style building with artifacts ranging from the historical to whimsical placed around the exterior by the original builder. Inside warm wood and mission style charm. Overlooks dramatic stretch of the Potomac. 3 course breakfasts were amazing; we stayed 3 nights and never had the same thing twice. And... More

Laurel Lodge is the best B&B experience I have had. The view is spectacular, and the food is great. But what I really appreciated was the sense of retreat. The furniture is sparse, giving a sense of openness and simplicity. No clutter means the focus is on the beautiful architectural details and the view. Sparkling clean, friendly and helpful hosts... The restored Arts & Crafts home is beautiful. The view of the Potomac River is perfect. Chris' cooking is incredible. The rooms are romantic and well appointed. And the lodge is only a short walk from the train station in Harper's Ferry. We cannot recommend Laurel Lodge highly enough.

A spur of the moment decision to ditch DC for a weekend caused me to start calling B & B's in Harper's Ferry. Thank goodness Laurel Lodge had a room. The host was gracious, flexible, and incredibly kind to allow a single traveler to spontaneously crash in the beautiful 1930s inspired camp room. Best parts were the peaceful surroundings, cookies...
