Absolutely wonderful! Laurel, the owner, made everybody as comfortable as possible. She arranged the sleeping areas so that they would accommodate singles or families or hikers or other kinds of visitors. She cooked a great waffle breakfast, the bed was perfectly comfy with a light above it so that I could read. Also- Many AT hikers stay there and she... More

This is a great choice if you're riding the C&O past Harper's Ferry. Laurel was very helpful to me; she had a hose to give my bike a shower, and a locked shed in the back to keep the bike safe. The hostel was clean and comfortable. The Anvil (nearby restaurant) can be a bit pricey, but the burger and... More

Had a great stay. It was clean and well run. Nice waffle breakfast. It was quiet in the hostel, was laid out well with adequate number of rest rooms. The owner and manager was very helpful and a very nice. Great place to stay, Close to the Appalachian Trail and historical Harpers Ferry.

As an avid traveler & thru hiker of the AT - I must say this is one of the cleanest & well equipped hostels I have stayed. Laurel was very welcoming & the waffle breakfast was a great start to our day hike. Highly recommend. Miss Wiggy (05)

My sister and I found Laurel to be very unaccomodating and grouchy. We were there early in the season and the place needs a deep cleaning. She asked us why we didn't call first to say we're getting in late. What are you? My mother?! This is only one of several reasons I wouldn't stay here again, and was the... More

We always welcome walk-ins if bunks are available. The trouble with your arrival is that you skipped the step of registering and paying and went straight into the hostel. Guests are welcome to come after 9 pm and those who do usually let me know of their plans so that disruption to other guests is minimized. More

A nice, tidy hostel. Two separate bunkrooms with bunk beds, and waffle breakfast is included! The kitchen is also available to guests all day, and is well-stocked with cookware (BYO food). Laurel also has a good stock of maps, brochures, and books in case you want to spend an extra day in the area.

Laurel was a fantastic hostess. The layout was clean, orderly, and organized. It was truly a great place to stay during my one day break. I will definitely stay here again and I hope to stay longer next time in order to explore more of Harpers Ferry! Thanks so much, Laurel!

Laurel is a real second-mile attitude Laurel's shuttle service for the airport and Applachian trail drop-offs. there are two bunk rooms, one smaller, one larger. there are mix of younger hikers and older cyclists on the C&O canal trail. there was a nice mixing between people and Laurel helped this along, showing a genuine interest in people and their activities.... Stayed here for 1 night while on a biking trip. I should also make it a point like an earlier reviewer that for bikers who are already tired biking the C&O tow path, the climb to the hill to reach the hostel is a killer. I had already done 50 miles that evening but the last mile, I almost gave... More

I enjoyed having you and your family visit the Teahorse! I want to add that there are 2 full bathrooms in the hostel, not one, that are available to everyone in the hostel. We have three restaurants within walking distance of the hostel: Mena's Pizza and Italian Restaurant, the Anvil Restaurant and the Canal House Cafe. All are open Wed.... More

We stayed here recently during a road trip through the Shenandoah Valley and found it to be a great alternative to the relatively weak hotel scene near Harpers Ferry. Our group rented a private "family room" with four beds and a reasonable amount of space-we didn't feel as though we were on top of each other. Laurel, who runs the... More
