I just spent a week in Harpers Ferry at Al and Alison's Harpers Ferry Guest House and had a wonderful time. The house is lovely and spotlessly clean, the bedrooms large and the bed comfortable. Al is a wonderful cook and makes gourmet breakfasts (oatmeal with fruit, French toast, omelettes) and Alison knows everything about local history. Civil War--related books... more

Harper's Ferry is already an amazing place to visit. It is a historic town nessled in the mountains at the mouth of where the Potomac and the Susquehanna meet. It has small shops, plenty of sightseeing, trails to hike, tours, tubing, white water rafting, and lots of helpful workers in the park. Also, if you get bored (which trust me,... more

Harper's Ferry Guest House has become a MUST stop for us on the way to Washington, D.C. Al and Alison always make us feel welcome. Alison now makes huge cookies (which are fabulous!) that are ready when we get there. The beds are so comfortable that my husband...who never naps during the day...laid down and immediately fell asleep on arrival.... more

A friend and I arrived at Harpers Ferry Guest House after a 100+ mile trail ride. It was an oasis. Al and Allison cannot do enough to make you feel comfortable and at home. The house is gorgeous; the rooms are enormous; breakfast just keeps on coming. From the moment you arrive, you feel well-taken care of and wish that... more

Al and Allison are wonderful hosts! Very attentive to any need we had. Went out of their way to make us feel comfortable in their home. Just a perfect place to spend a couple of days together. Al is a great cook. Breakfasts were delicious and nutritious for all the hill climbing you must face! Allison maintains an IMMACULATE house,... more

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel at home by Al and Allison, our helpful, interesting and informative hosts. An attractive colonial style house, offering spacious, well furnished rooms and ample off-road parking, well situated for touring the surrounding area including day trips to the Civil War battlefields of Sharpsburg/Antietam, Gettysburg and Mannassas/Bull Run. The picturesque and... more

We had a very pleasant stay at Harpers Ferry Guest House. Our hosts, Al and Allison, made us feel welcome and gave us suggestions of where to go and what we should see. Al served a delicious breakfast each morning. Knowing our son, who was with us on the trip, is a musician, Allison recommended a local event in a... more

Al and Allison bent over backwards during our stay at their B&B. From the moment Al picked us up at the station, until he dropped us off again 3 days later, he and Allison made us feel incredibly welcome and at 'home'. Our air-conditioned ground floor room was spacious and well equipped, with lots of personal touches. Allison and Al... more

We recently stayed at HFGH during a tour of Civil War Battlefields. From the moment we arrived it was evident that we had chosen a beautifully presented home with charming hosts. Our room was spotless, spacious and stocked with some excellent reading material (historical and topical) covering the Harpers Ferry area. We were provided with refreshments immediately on arrival, and... more

As a pair of British senior citizens travelling in the USA, we like to use public transport and stay in a B&B, if we can find one. We found HFGH on the internet. Without being asked, Al met our train at the station. Our 4-night stay was one of our best ever. Al and Allison are charming hosts, who love... more
