If you have the choice, why stay anyplace else but here. We always stay here when we are in Bayfield. We also attempt to stay at a different room each stay. The only challenge is finding an open room. If in doubt, book it now. This location is well situated to town and the shuttle stop for the Big Top... More

We stayed at the Old Rittenhouse Inn for three nights as an anniversary get-away (20 years!). Bayfield is a lovely, quaint little town that we found very enjoyable and relaxing. The boat tour of the Apostle Islands was a highlight. The Inn was quite lovely. Our room was pleasant (rm VI). Dinner the first night was outstanding. Very definitely one... More

I enjoyed the Rittenhouse Inn for lunch with 42 others in my group. They were prepared for us and we had 3 choices of entrée after a lovely light salad. We also had a dessert. The lady gave us the history of the building and the area between servings and allowed us to tour the unoccupied guest rooms. Lovely and... More

we visited the Old Rittenhouse B & B in July 2014 and had a great time. There is so much to see in Bayfield and the inn is such a delightful place to stay. The accomodations are superb and you are very close to everything in Bayfield. The folks that work there are extremely helpful and very accommodating. We would... More

This is our third return trip to the Old Rittenhouse Inn and we already look forward to returning again next year. Everything is right about this place. Mark and Wendy are superb hosts, making us feel so welcome and comfortable. We stayed in the Chateau ( two blocks from the main Rittenhouse Inn) as this is our preference for the... More

I cannot say enough about the comfort, hospitality and the food! Rittenhouse is by far the BEST bed and breakfast I have every stayed in. Normally old mansions turned into such places need repair, try to hard to be eccentric, or otherwise fall short of expectation. Not so at the Rittenhouse! Modern conveniences for comfort without spoiling the décor of... More

We just spent the 4th of July in Bayfield and stayed at the Old Rittenhouse. The included breakfasts off the Inn menu were wonderful. Dining in one of the 3 main rooms, likely with a view of Lake Superior was a pleasant way to start the day. It's an easy walk down Rittenhouse Avenue to the shops and other restaurants... More

I recently inquired about a dinner reservation; this morning. In talking with the staff they informed me that the verbal dinner menu is no longer an option due to complaints on TripAdvisor. I asked if this was a joke, sadly it's not. When you come to Bayfield, you are here to experience a slower pace and be part of traditions.... More

This was our third visit to the Old Rittenhouse Inn and once again it did not disappoint. We have stayed in both the Chateau and the main house and both have proven to be comfortable and inviting. The food was exceptionally wonderful this trip with so many of the dishes relying heavily on local, seasonal ingredients. I highly recommend the... More
