My sister, brother-in-law, wife and I spend a couple of weekends each summer at Bayfield. The views and gardens at Winfield Inn are beautiful. Nice deck for reading, having a beer or glass of wine. Staff is courteous and helpful. Enjoyed sailboat trip and shows at Big Top Chautauqua. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable and resident cat friendly.

Two friends and I were able to snag the last room in the motel part in Bldg 1 of the Winfield Inn over the 1 March 2014 weekend. When we arrived (very late), the hotelier was still up and kindly helped us with check-in. He also had some great recommendations for where to go and when to check out the... More

Stayed for one night at a Reitan Boatyard unit to see Apostle Island Ice Caves. The units are individually owned and rented out by Winfield. When it's not below zero, the Reitan units are walkable to everything in town. They are somewhat dated, but were in immaculate shape and a fire was already built for us on arrival. Great space... I was looking for a convenient and comfortable place to stay after visiting the ice caves. This was the place. Stayed in room 16, found it clean and comfortable. The staff recommended the Friday night fish fry at Pier Plaza which topped off the evening. I would recommend the Winnfield Inn to anyone looking for a place to stay.

I have stayed in the balcony rooms and loved those, but don't like the motel rooms. They are very old, and dirty. The bathroom needs better cleaning, and the furniture is very old and chipped. At least do a reno of the furniture? A few new dressers would be a great investment... before you lose more customers! However, we did... More

the rooms are nice at the motel.... the rooms can be cleaned way better though (DIRTY) dirt on the carpets, hair on the bathroom floor, big clumps of dog hair. it was gross. for as much as you pay to stay there you would think it would be a little cleaner. I will never stay there ever again and wouldn't... More

Room 29 overlooked Lake Superior and had recently been refurbished and modernised. It was very clean and comfortable with a king size bed. We could hear people walking around in the room above but otherwise it was very quiet. The lights above the vanity were too bright and very hot if you needed to use the area after an already... More

Stayed in the Brickyard cabins that are managed by Winfield Inn. We would have cancelled our reservation if we could have due to the the VERY long list of don'ts that we received after the reservation was made. But as we needed to cancel our reservation 14 days in advance, that would not have worked. I have never stayed in... More

This is the second time I've stayed here, and it's been great both times. The rooms are very nice, and they have a great view of the lake. The landscaping is beautiful. It's also a short and easy walk to the Madeline Island ferry.

My family had a very nice stay at cabin number 6 in the Brickyard creek development. It is a small A frame cabin set back in the woods. It was very quiet and relaxing. This cabin has a nice gas fireplace and a large screen porch that gives you a sense of being right in the woods. There are also... More
