desk so helpful, charming rooms, unique, easy to get there, don't use giant suv, lot is tight, so much nicer than a holiday inn which would be the same price or more, great value, block is a bit seedy but totally safe, another world once youre inside the front gate

We first stayed here in 1988 as students. We lived in SF from 1989-91 and love to return not as tourists but like we live here. Marina Motel is like having a weekend apartment right in the city. Parking is free, the rooms are clean, comfortable and some have a full kitchen with oven, stove, micro, coffee maker, fully sized fridge.... More

We stayed here for three nights and got a room close to the street. With 160$/ night this was out most expensive hotel during a long trip. The rooms are nice, we had a lot of space and the hotel is located in a nice part of the city. But there are some things that should have worked better for... More

This place was charming, but I would absolutely avoid the units facing Lombard St. (#41-50) The room we got was advertised as "street view", and we expected that street noise would be an issue, but the biggest problem was that each unit is over its own garage, and it was pretty stressful to either enter or exit a small garage... Four of us stayed here for four nights in August and were given rooms 19 & 20 which are two adjoining rooms at the back of the hotel with a shared bathroom between them. Ok if you get on well with your friends. Bathroom can lock either of the 2 connecting doors to avoid any embarrassing moments but just remember... More

We enjoyed our stay at the Marina Motel. We got a courtyard room because we had heard of the noise on Lombard St. There was still some, but not too much, traffic sound until about 11 pm, and then it was quiet. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. Parking is included below the rooms. You can catch the... More

Really nice place to stay. Had a room in the center courtyard and the building was beautiful! Amazingly beautiful flowers growing all over the buildings. The garner saw me admiring them and in talking to him found out that that they were very old and he had cared for them for many years. Hotel personnel were very nice, location was... More

A very unique motel inLombard street, close to the Fishermen's Wharf and many SF attractions. Very different from other nearby hotels in its beauty. The parking patio is beautifully gardened and maintained' and decorated with flowes painted that complete the atnosphere. The rooms are very good, kitchen facilitie, free Wi Fi, parking by the rooms but who needs a car... More

Our stay was pleasant and we had no complaints with the room. However, after we left we received an odd message from hotel manager accusing us of sneaking a pet into the room (which we did not.....would have been impossible to sneak in a 100+ pound dog!). She said our pet had chewed and destroyed the hair dryer (we never... More

“Hotel manager accused us of sneaking a pet in room“ Ok! Accusation is harsh, but I will accept this pronouncement. What is disappointing is that yes, we called and left a message on a phone number to the room where a brand new blow dryer was replaced the morning before, (all rooms in that building were replaced same day and... Adjacent to the Presidio. Easy access to SF spots. We have two dogs so the ability to take long walks nearby is great. Our room also had a kitchen another plus. Parking is off the street and secure. Hardily recommend considering if you are driving a car and seeking a pet friendly and/or kitchen unit.

“Great location pet friend lush“ Thank you very much for your review of our hotel, we are happy that you found us to be a pet friendly hotel and yes there are many areas to walk your dogs just a short distance from the hotel. The Presidio park area is beautiful with great views of Golden gate bridge, Crissy field... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
