The hotel/motel is a good overnight base to use to explore the wonderful city of San Francisco. The hotel is nothing much to look at on the outside and the rooms are adequate. But it's the location and price where it really scores! You can catch one of the many tour buses from Lombard Street so it's very practical for... More

We stayed for two nights in July this year. The room badly smelled of smoke and the "air condtioning" didnt work.By air conditioning i mean the fan that sat in the corner of the room adn blew out hot air making the smells worse and it was impossible to sleep with the heat even when it was off. We were... More

First the positives. Nice location. Walking distance of places to eat- several blocks. Comfortable bed. And now the rest of the story. Stained and dirty carpet. In fact, my brother-in-law (see review posting from my sister-law under the name Sue T) ruined white socks in his room! The bed comforter was extremely dirty white-no way would we sit on it... More

It was ok. Definitely wasn't the nicest and definitely wasn't the best. Hotels are expensive in San Fran so we were looking at price. It's clean enough. The bus stop is right down the street so it's easy to get around. If you just need a place to sleep and aren't looking to spend alot, it's a decent choice.

La Luna could use a good update and cleaning. The outside door did not meet the stoop, the carpet was filthy (see photo of socks from one night on carpet,) the air-conditioner never reached a cool temperature and sounded like a rumbling truck, and the shower had areas of mold in the caulking. Think twice before booking.

Stayed 23rd June for 3 nights. Rooms are basic and you can literally hear everything from your neighbours. If you are a light sleeper, forget this place. Our room overlooked the back so we had no noise from the traffic on the main road at the front. San Francisco is very expensive for hotels and this cost about $150 A... More

My wife and I recently stayed at The La Luna Inn in San Francisco. We picked it because it was close to the Palace of Fine Arts where we would be attending a concert. The location was great. Walked to our venue and there were plenty of nice dining spots within walking distance. But, that's where the good things end........ More

I am staying here this evening. I paid way too much for this run down room, but it was the only room I could find on short notice. The a/c doesn't work, and the management, who was obviously aware of the problem previously, has refused to do anything. They have even refused to refund my money if I find another... More

This hotel was very old and the air did not work. We asked to have it checked out and the hotel brought us a fan. The room is updated a little, but very old. Bathroom very nice and beds ok. On a noisy part of Lombard st. Will not stay there again.

- Friendly front desk staff - Serves free continental breakfast (cereal, toast, fruits, coffee, juice, hot chocolate) - Room was nice and bed sheets were clean - Updated television was nice to have - Noticed a strong chemical or cleaner smell when we first checked in that could have been left from when the room was being cleaned, but it... Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
