Good location, not near the tourist trap, close to good restaurants on Chesnut Street, and walking distance to the Marina and Palace Of Fine Arts. Clean, And spacious rooms, ( we had 2 large teenager boys) but bests of all fantastic staff of reception, friendly and helpful.. A short taxi ride to Fishermans wharf, and Coit Tower. Would certainly stay... More

Room painted nice however the light fixtures were rusty or molding and there was a slight oder in the room. The shades don't keep out all the lights and the bottom of the door jam was broken so light came into the room that way too. Bed and pillows were uncomfortable, old box tv, and loud AC unit and the... More

The location of the motel is great as it allows you easy access by bus to the wharfs etc and walking distance to the Golden Gate bridge. The motel is not really anything special, it's the same as just about most other $50 hotels in the rest of the US, it only costs $120 a night because its San Francisco.... More

This well located, older but well maintained property was just right for me and my wife. We selected this site for its proximity to the pier where our event was being held. just an $8 taxi ride and we were at the pier where the Bay Area Brew Fest was being held. Property is well maintained. Desk service is helpful... More

Had a very nice time there. Only stayed the one night, but it was a convenient location for our downtown activities. The room was clean, the staff was nice, and helped us out with getting a taxi. Da place ain't fancy, but, hey, for the price, it rocks, gives you a comfy bed, a mini-fridge, a nice bathroom. We were... More

Ok, I'll begin with mentioning that it is a ⭐️⭐️1/2 hotel; however, certain things are not even worthy that many stars. Location: Pros - on Lombard street that separates Marina (highly upscale neighborhood) and Cow Hollow. Very close to Presidio and Golden Gate Bridge. Cons - away from major attractions (Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Embarcadero etc.) Parking: our parking was... More

We stayed at La Luna Inn for 8 nights at the end of January, 2015. The rooms are basic but clean: normal queen size bed, iron, hair dryer, bad shampoos and soaps, no mini fridge but you have an offering for the guests of a couple of bottles of water on the table for $3 / bottle. Our room had... More

We visited San Francisco for just 2 days and really needed something close to the city. The hotel was good, clean and comfortable, however the room was located with window towards the passenger's way so sometimes its noisy when someone walks passed by. I would recommend this hotel

The location was good, about 2 miles up from the wharf, lots of places to eat within walking distance. When we checked in, the man at the desk was extremely nice and helpful. Answered our questions. We asked about the parking lot situation and if it fills up, he said yes so we parked our car in the lot and... More

Located close to the northern waterfront there is quick access to the green areas by the water, old Hyde Street Pier, Fisherman's Wharf etc. It's also walking distance to Golden Gate Bridge. Be aware that some of the rooms are located in passageways with the room's window lacking view of the outside. It's OK as it's dark during sleep though... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
