As agreed by most, this is fantastic location you can easily locate it and I actually walked around to city hall, union square and other malls. Forget about huge luggage if you decide to go for this hotel as the lift is too old to handle the bulk and weight, I had to carry my 30kg++ luggage up 4 steep... More

Super central hotel, was clean but basic, which is exactly what we expected for the price we paid! Advertised as having wifi.... Not available in the rooms, just the lobby. The elevator didn't work in our whole 6 day, 6th floor stay, every day they said it would be fixed 'tomorrow'. Very peculiar smell to the place & we were... More

The good: -The price of this hotel for its location in San Fran is unbelievable - The Chinatown entrance is about 2 doors down. - 1 block away there is a bus that costs $2 that takes you down to fisherman's wharf. - You can walk easily to Union Square and the shopping mall. - The rooms were clean -... To find something in this central location at this price - you can't expect 4*. Our room was clean, comfortable though tired and we appreciated the 'eat as much as you like' breakfast for $4 - details listed by another reader so we didn't go out hungry. The Hop-on-hop-off bus stop is over the road. Though there were no tea/coffee... More

The very conveniently located Astoria Hotel does not offer any luxuries, but adequate and moderately-priced rooms by San Francisco standards. Besides value for money, the Astoria's location is great: next to Chinatown Gate, a few minutes walk to Union Square, within easy walking distance of cable car, tram, bus, metro and BART lines. While the rooms are not great, they... More

On the corner of China Town and near the cable cars and the Union Square. You can basicaly just walk anywhere from this hotel - we walked all the way to the piers at the Fisherman´s Wharf. But the hotel rooms are really bad, I never ever sleped on a harder bed!!! Our toilet got stucked which did not surprised... More

Situated right on the Chinatown gates, Astoria is perfectly located. A few blocks from the muni & the cable cars, bart within 1 block but the hotel itself is terrible but it's very cheap. The whole place needs a refurb & something doing about the smell which lingered in the corridor & room. I found the bed comfy but won't... More

Luckily we only stayed 4 nights. On arrival we were told that the elevator was out of order and it never looked like being fixed while we were there. Our room was large and the bathroom was okay but there were piles of mosquitoes and it was really noisy from activity in Chinatown. Wifi was only available on the second... More

Bed's were really uncomfortable, place was kind of dirty and no free continental breakfast, why would anyone pay $5 for Continental breakfast?. Wifi is not available only in a specified room on the second floor of the hotel. the LOCATION is the only GOOD thing.

My husband and I stayed here in our short trip to San Fran. If it was more than two nights, I would have checked out and gone somewhere else. The location was good, walking distance to shops, restaurants and easily accessible via public transport. The hotel is dated, but this was no issue for us as it was a short... More
