The hotel has fair sized rooms, allowing for enough space for lots of luggage. 10 Mins walking distance into town. Price was just about ok for the services provided (no breakfast offered, no airport shuttle etc) Location however is good and we felt save in this area compared to a few streets further south. Many eateries for breakfast / basic... More

First time in San Francisco we spent 3 nights at Vertigo. Although I was not expecting a 5 star hotel, I still was disappointed. I checked it in several websites and it has nice comments but frankly there is nothing special about this hotel. I have to say that it is very well situated and you can walk to Union... More

For me, the decor and aesthetic of a hotel is really important. I don't like old fusty curtains, carpets, bedspreads, etc. Hotel Vertigo had a clean, fresh, chic design. I loved the unique orange/white color combos in the rooms, and the eclectic touches like horse-head ceramic lamps. The lobby was also open, lofty, modern and clean. The hotel was very... More

Great hotel, good location, don't trust any of those reviews saying that the hotel is in a dodgy area. On contrary, I prefer this location more than noisy Union Square. Union Square is barely 10 minutes walk anyway. The staff is super helpful, really cool guys helping us sort out issues with our agency booking right away. The rooms are... More

My stay here was arranged by colleagues, and this was a great place to be introduced to San Francisco: this is a quirky boutique hotel, full of charm and original touches, with great service. The bed was pretty comfortable, though noise does travel here - whether it's the chambermaids in the early morning or late night revelers coming in: so... More

Distinctive boutique and charming hotel offering nice sized rooms and contemporary furnishings. Very friendly staff too! Only downside is that the area is a bit further away from Union Square action; instead but you get experience more a neighborhood vibe.

This was one of my most favourite hotels when travelling in the USA (and I stayed in a few). I loved the unique decoration and colour scheme. The staff were super friendly and helpful and while it is in an old building you can only tell with the small elevator. It has so much charm and character of its own!... More

I found it very difficult to find a good San Fran hotel in a good location, so I resigned myself to the fact that I would need to pay a little extra to get somewhere decent in a safe and convenient location. Every hotel was expensive, so I guess it's just how things are in the city. The location was... More

Quaint, renovated hotel. No room service or in-house food, but restaurants, eateries and shops very close by. Was original hotel for the movie "Vertigo", so a fun place to stay. Rooms, TV, internet services were all great.

Stayed here for four nights while on a road trip. This is a really nice hotel in a great location. The rooms are a bit small but that seems to be the norm in San Francisco anyway (as is parking). Aside from that it was clean, quiet, nicely decorated and I barely even noticed the lack of air conditioning despite... More
