This hotel is old, tired & a bunch of hype. They took the York Hotel, changed the name & rely on that to sell you rooms. Hotels that rely on "themes" are rarely worth the money & this hotel is no different. Rooms: dreary, noisy, tiny & come with a strange smell. Lobby: forgettable, Staff: treats you like you're a bum... More

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Vertigo for 4 nights in March. The bedroom was really modern and quirky and kept immaculate. Same deal with the bathroom, very modern, clean and really nice complimentary products! The location of the hotel is pretty central (in the Nob Hill area) which suited us. We walked to Fishermans Wharf a couple of... More

This was my 3rd time staying at Hotel Vertigo... 1st time I went with my family and had a fantastic time. The 2nd and 3rd time, I went with friends while we were there to race Nike Woman's 1/2 Marathon and Rock & Roll 1/2. Not only is this Hotel very unique by the trendy decor the staff is always... As above, I was really pleased with this hotel as it was clean, comfortable, quiet, characterful and in a great location. No issues with walking home at night from Bart stations (about 15 mins walk) as long as you didn't go through Tenderloin. Loads of nice, cool cafes and bars close by serving good food and breakfasts etc. Also lots... More

Placed in a strategical position, although the only place of interest reachable by feet is Union Square, the hotel is very close to Cable Car and bus stoppes (do not try to visit San Francisco by car, it could being a dramatic experience…). Rooms are alright, clean and nice, with free Wi-Fi. Shuttle service to Airport, cheaper than taxi, may... More

I was booked here by a client. While it may be ok for budget tourism, I would strongly encourage business travelers to avoid this hotel. You would probably be better off getting away from the city center than staying here. It is one of these shabby old properties someone tried to spin into a "boutique" hotel by putting some decent-looking... More

I stayed here for 4 nights during a conference. It was basic and functional and a bit cheaper than many SF hotels. The room size was decent and the bed clean and comfortable. Front desk staff was really friendly and the location is great. The negatives are the lack of TV channels-only 5 odd channels like Bloomberg and CNBC but... More

I stayed here with two girlfriends when we were travelling America in November 2013. We stayed in a room that had two queen bed's in it. We arrived at about 11am - prior to the stated check in- but as our room was ready we were able to head up there and get settled. I loved the look of the... More

We had so much fun at Hotel Vertigo. I loved the boutique feel and the location. The theme sets it apart (watch the move first!). I wouldn't stay anywhere else in San Francisco--you can't beat the deal you are getting for the price!

Not sure where to start. I endured this hotel for 4 long nights. The reception staff are rude and indifferent. The front desk looks like a garage sale wi plastic tubs and food wrappers all over. The rooms are seemingly clean - but that's where it goes downhill. threadbare towels (they were so bad one ripped after the shower) no... More
