Every morning during our 1 week stay at the W, my husband, our 2 kids (ages 7 and 5), and I ate breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. We were fortunate to get waited on by 2 wonderful, friendly, energetic and attentive waiters by the name of Damian Rodrigues and Yaya. Both gentlemen were not only friendly but they demonstrated an... More

I was in this hotel for 6 days and travelled for business. The service is what you are expecting for a central city 5 star hotel, with a very nice room, not very big but in a high floor, overlooking the city. The location is also very good. The hotel is very modern and trendy, with a busy bar. The... More

The hotel itself was very nice and good value for money (at least compared to other upscale hotels in a very expensive city). The room was a little small and this was the first hotel I've every stayed in that didn't have a coffee maker in the room. There were plenty of 200ml bottles of liquor in the minibar though... More

W San Francisco is hip, cool, trendy and fun. Good place to stay if you want to party in San Francisco. The hotel really puts you in the mood. They throw in a couple of free drinks at the bar for you when you check in. The food at the restaurant downstairs was really good as well. Overall, the cocktails... More

Maybe I am getting too old....but you pay a premium for staying at a trendy hotel like the W. The rooms can be sparse or minimalistic, and the service is practically non-existent. i was better off staying at the Westin down the road where service was more visible and room was more comfortable complete with your 5-star touches.

Recently stayed one short night at this hotel while passing through San Francisco. All was good. The service was good and attentive, the room was modern, nicely proportioned and well appointed. I quite liked the design. Location was good. Nothing to complain about at all except maybe to say the lobby was a bit dark and noisy with a bar-like... More

The staff really do go that extra mile with ease and in a truly professional manner. Thank you so much. I will be staying with you again soon. The second we parked in front of the W, we had plenty of help with our luggage and a quick and easy check in. We went up to our room and Paul was kind enough to call the front desk and upgrade our room to one with a nice view of the city. While we were walking, Paul must have... More

Rocio, manager in dining room was extra cordial to us all the while she was filling in as a server because they were short-handed that morning. Also, server, Damien, who was our server on Friday morning, August 14, was excellent!!!!Nice demeanor, excellent customer service as a server.

At Happy Hour, the place fills up with a great looking 20-30 something crowd. I'm not in that demographic so I didn't know what to expect with the rooms, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are well done and comfortable. The work-out facilities are great for a business-centric hotel. The Bliss Spa is identical to their namesakes in... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
