I usually don't write reviews but this time I promissed myself to do it. For a romantic Valentine's weekend we chose W hotel, cause we always loved it for the great service and comfort we always experienced with the hotel. Having same expectations we checked in, entered our room: small room, but we wouldn't mind. The thing that started irritating... More

Stayed here multiple times. Love the corner rooms-- LOTS of space. Cool sitting area (built-in couches/seats), nice shutter as window treatment; thoughtful decor on shelves to make you feel more at home vs cookie-cutter standard hotel decorations. Gym has a bit of a nightclub feel, but good size and equipment options. Bliss Spa was great. Had a wonderful deep tissue/sports... More

Good location, very good room, although the housekeeper didn't fulfill my room on 1st night. I booked a fabulous corner room with a great view. Free coffee in the morning is another kudos to W. Basically you can walk to most places from hotel.

I've stayed at this hotel numerous times and has exceeded my expectations every time. The front desk/ reception staff, Melissa was impressive and she made our stay very special. Melissa was exceptional and extremely helpful, she set up my fiance and I to a very nice suite, Extreme Wow Suite. The upgrade to the Extreme Wow Suite was extraordinary. W hotel... More

There is absolutely no feeling here what so ever. At the main bar in the lobby I was served a rosé sparkling wine $16. that must have been opened the day before. The barman gladly exchanged it for me, but I won’t be going back because there was nothing cool about the place anymore like there used to be. In... More

This is a nice overall property. It's a little small, but I guess most of them are a little small in general. The bar downstairs is a lot of fun. Staff was great. Make sure to use UBER to get here, it will save u parking etc. The rooms do have a cool lounging area by the window. We actually... More

Visiting San Fran and staying at the W hotel, decided to try the restaurant Trace for breakfast and I must say I walked away impressed. The decor was sheik, Service from server Damien(Servers world wide can learn from this gem) was spot on, food was very great and presented well. Price was a bit overboard but expected at such an... I am currently staying in the W. I checked in yesterday and was very happy with the reception staff. I'm a Starwood Platinum member and they were nice enough to upgrade me to a room with a great view of the city. I got a massage at the Bliss Spa later at night after work and that was also great.... My room was great, breakfast was delicious from the restaurant downstairs. I tried the chiliquiles- amazing, I wish I could figure out how to recreate them! Downside were prices were kinda crazy- $699 a night, $6.50 for a cup of coffee in the restaurant, $54 a night to valet the car. I wouldn't recommend parking here for the prices, but... More

The W hotel definitely caters to the more young and hip crowd, but it is a very nice hotel and it is in a great location centrally located in San Francisco. It's very accessible and we had great service. The rooms are actually pretty big for being downtown.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
