The owners actually yelled at my buddies and told them to be quiet as they were thinking and needed to concentrate (to print room keys). Also, one morning, the woman who owns the place yelled at a kid not to pour drinks because it was going to spill everywhere. Not bad, but a solid 3 stars also.

If you are in San Francisco for a short stay this is a good place to stay. Older in style, but location is fantastic. On Lombard st which is also 101 north/south so is easy to get to it and to other places you may want. it's a little noisy with traffic close to the building but it didn't stop... More

Rooms are not really big but the size is acceptable compared to the price. The breakfast ist very small (coffee, tea, orangejuice,apples/bananas and some sweet cakes - but it's even finde compared to the price. Good for the daily activities but very bad for the nights is the location at the Lombard St... It's very loud 24 hours a day... More

Great location. Walking distance to Wharf and many neighborhoods and restaurants. Good price for area, but basic amenities with somewhat dated furniture and decor. Very clean rooms and nice people at front desk. Bathrooms are really small and there is no air conditioning although we did not need it. Fans were located in the room and a mini fridge was... More

Drove in here for our last night in California after 2 places in Lombard Street (Route 101) either fully booked or too grubby to stay. Found the lady on reception pleasant & even managed to negotiate a $10 discount. Parking was available outside the rooms & the room was clean & tidy albeit the room had no air-conditioning which could... More

The positives: Clean room & good location The negatives: Very outdated room, not a comfortable place to stay and in desperate need of refurbishment Noisy location - Lombard Street is a 6 lane highway, there's noise all the time I did not feel safe staying here as a lone female traveller, I felt very exposed to just anyone passing by... Stayed at The Town House for 4 nights on first trip to San Francisco based in location - Lombard and on the Hop on Hop off bus route. Note - they sell passes for both Hop on bus companies right at the Hotel! Friendly owners, very accomodating. Very clean rooms, well appointed ( too many decorative pillows for my liking... More

Yes location and price sounds good, but: my mattress actually had holes worn in it, must have been 30 yrs old. Forget breakfast that's an apple. Safe enough clean enough but go ahead an pay more somewhere else.

The location of the motel is very good, about 15 minutes walk to fisherman's wharf. The room was well maintained and clean, but sometimes smelled a little bit when we came back in the evening. Unfortunately it was very noisy because the room wasn't insulated at all. The breakfast really was a joke, but at least they offered fruits which... More

This traditional style motel is less than 15 minutes walk from the marina with all those great cafes, boat trips and shops. Our room was clean and comfortable though rather in need of a makeover. The breakfast is just sufficient to get you out going until brunch

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
