This hotel is beautifully located at the top of Nob Hill. You can walk to restaurants, Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square and even AT&T Park (okay, we stopped at an Irish Pub on the way, which broke up the walk). The walk back to the Fairmont can be a bit of a challenge - those hills are steep, but you can... More

The Fairmont. What could go wrong here? Nothing! This place is absolutely amazing. Breathtaking lobby and unsurpassed elegance. Stayed in the Singapore Suite. It has an amazing covered veranda with views of the city that are just amazing. Open the french doors and listen to the clank clank of the trolley cars in the distance . The room is plush... More

This beautiful property is a walk back in time to an era of opulent hotels. The decor, the service, the rooms, the beds, are all luxurious and comfortable. I stayed for a week with my husband in January, a belated honeymoon trip after we got caught in a "hurricane" at the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island of Hawaii. It... More

Visited the Fairmont Hotel on Vacation. It was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at in my life. It was very classy and very luxurious. The service was excellent. A very pleasant experience from start to finish. It is not a cheap hotel; nor should one expect it to be. And Yes! they do have the Terry... More

When should an hotel lobby bar close? When the bartender has done his X and Z till readings? That's how it was here. This Job'sworth is damaging the hotel's reputation and finances! Either give him a proper remit in his contract or remove him. Breakfast in an appointed room was OK except for the non-existent staff...and when they appeared they... More

I went to a charity banquet at the Fairmont a week ago with my disabled mother. She's 88 and in a wheelchair. The Fairmont staff were incredibly helpful, warm, kind - I can't say enough. Steven Mitchell and Johnny in security were outstanding as was the valet. Thank you all so much. The service was so outstanding that my husband... More

beautiful stately rooms that are large and comfortable although I found the bed hollowed out on the popular side! It is quiet and has very comfortable amenities, in particular our room had a large walk in wardrobe! in room tea and coffee facilities negatives: location right on the top of Nob Hill....that means a brisk uphill walk if you dont... I knew this was a special hotel but you have to go to experience it. We stayed in a signature room in the tower and had a view of the golden gate bridge, Alcatraz and the bay. What more could you ask for. The staff are wonderful. I did not want to leave!

This place is crazy fancy. I was a nanny for a family that had a wedding to attend. The baby and I stayed in the hotel room. I by no normal circumstances would have been able to afford to stay there. This place is a walk away from San Francisco's NOB Hill shopping. There is a beautiful Catholic church just... More

We had a double queen room with a rollaway bed for a family of four. Room was on third floor overlooking California Street. There was cable car and street noise but it was not an issue for us. Room was big enough with a bath/shower - it was a functional room and house keeping were very good. Hotel itself is... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
