We stayed at the Fairmont, San Francisco between Christmas and New Years. It has a great location, and the service was outstanding. Both of those pale in comparison to the beautiful decorations in the lobby. It has both a hand made Ginger Bread House, and a 30' Christmas Tree. Hopefully this annual holiday tradition will never end; a real treat... More

San Francisco deserves a room with a view. The Fairmont Hotel is that hotel. Add its amenities and professional and courteous staff and where else would one choose to stay? I would recommend it to anyone visiting San Francisco for the first time. It is the prime location for seeing the city as it should be seen.

Having stayed at numerous Fairmonts on our 2 week holiday around the states we were looking forward to another relaxing 3 nights in San Francisco. Things didn't get off to the best of starts when as we approached the front desk we were greeted by a receptionist who kept her head down whilst fiddling with some paperwork on the desk.... More

The fairmont is a nice hotel with ideal location. However a few problems are not acceptable for that category of accomodation. First and foremost: housekeeping is a catastrophy (No bathrobes when we arrived, toilet paper was not replaced when finished, the linen was dirty and not replaced, the ice tray was not emptied when the ice melted) Second : the... Although it is situated wonderfully on 'Nob Hill' in the exclusive area of SF it lacked warmth and charm. The staff were courteous but distant and did not have to work hard for our appreciation - it was as if we were rather surplus to their existence. The refurbished rooms are good, but anonymous. The bathroom disappointing and small. The... More

having stayed in Nob Hill / Union Square area numerous times, this is clearly the pushiest hotel I've stayed in (JW Marriott and Renaissance previously. Great lobby area, but unless you are a President Club member no access to the gym nor free wifi. No wifi is a total ripoff! My room was nice - large King with large bathroom,... More

Picture this - we have been travelling all day from the Napa Valley with our very tired 1 year old. We arrived at the Fairmont at 6pm to discover that our room wasn't ready. We had booked a very expensive suite so needless to say we were very disappointed. The front desk offered us another room to sit in while... More

My partner and I stayed here for one night on the way back home at the end of our trip. I was just disappointed to receive such poor service from a brand like Fairmont. We asked for a 2 pm check out as we had a late flight the next day but the staff declined our request without even checking... More

I stayed for 3 nights, mid-week (on business travel) at the Fairmont. I absolutely loved my stay. I was on a low floor with no view, but the room was so beautifully updates and so spacious (well above and beyond expectations for a city hotel), I didn't mind. The bed was extremely comfortable, I had a walk in closet (with... More

We were able to walk all over in a short amount of town (though those hills are no joke!) and we loved our king size bed, city view room. Very spacious and tastefully decorated. Join their presidents club for free to get free Wifi. Wonderful customer service, we arrived at 10:30am from the airport and they already had our room... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
