I stay here often as my work brings me to San Francisco area frequently. If you travel for business then you know the value of a things you can rely on, the impact of a familiar face (especially when it's smiling), and the lift you get when you're remembered. This place is in a great location close to many fantastic... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed it. Rooms are smaller but to be expected in a big city. Coffee bar with creamy hot chocolate every morning for guest free. Also, have 5 PM managers wine reception with good quality wine. Nice exercise room with new equipment. Would stay here again.

We loved our stay in San Francisco and what a great city. This hotel was in a great location being close to all the shops, on the cable car line and close to Fishermans Wharf. Every morning there was free coffee from 5-10 am which was great as there was no coffee making facilities in the room. Also there was... More

While this iconic hotel is conveniently located to Union Square shopping, Chinatown, Pier 39 and on the cable car route be prepared to give up luxuries that would typically be associated with a hotel with this legacy. Tiny bathroom, linens very average, amenities (such as lotions, soaps, etc.) minimal. Lovely staff, complimentary coffee bar in morning and wine tasting in... More

I am a loyal Kimpton guest and have stayed in at least 5 Kimpton hotels around the country. When I'm traveling I look for a Kimpton first because of their excellent pet policies (I often travel with my small dog). The hotels are usually pretty stylish with decent service and food at a relatively affordable price. I had a mixed... More

If you are a frequent visitor to Europe, you'll love the Drake. Quaint, creaky and central. All good. Parking there is INSANE. Chris (front desk) turned me onto Sutter and Stockton Lot. Saved a bundle. Wine hour was a bit disjointed at times. Starlight Club is a bit too smarmy for the sophisticated traveller. More for intoxicated 20 somethings. In... More

Hotel is walking distance from excellent restaurants, shopping in Union Square. The cable cart stop is right outside the hotel which we used to get to Fisherman's Warf so very convenient. The hotel itself was great. Some of the things that stood out for us; The Sky Bar (open Tuesday-Saturday) has great cocktails and views of the City. They offered... More

Great location next to Union Square, shops, sites, etc, which really meant we could see the sites without traveling far and wide. The concierge was super helpful too, suggesting some really great restaurants and offering good advice on touristy stuff too. Hotel is stylish - grand lobby - but rooms are tiny, bathrooms even smaller. But, we weren't often there,... More

My Mom and I took a road trip and stayed at The Sir Francis Drake and just can't say enough great things about the team, hotel and restaurant here. We are counting down the days to return and will be dreaming about the Octopus in herb aioli, gnocchi, risotto and duck until then.

Best part of the hotel was the location (Union Square are of SF) and the beautiful lobby. The rooms were small, but clean and nicely decorated. We didn't find the beds very comfortable and the bathroom was microscopic. Staff was pleasant, but wasn't overly welcoming. Interesting how they charge you ahead of time for the bar bill and deduct it... More
