Can't I do less than 1 star? I've stayed in 5-star hotels and dumps all over the world...so I'm not a whiner when it comes to hotels. As long as there are no pimps in the lobby, it has minimal comforts and is clean, I'm usually pretty happy. In the interest of brevity; Check-in: The rude desk clerk was on... More

Let me just say that the Seal Rock Inn is not the most modern hotel in the world. It's not the most beautiful hotel in the world. But you know what? It does the job. They keep it clean, and the rates are low. I guess rustic would be a good word to describe the place. But trust me, it... More

My husband and I were celebrating our third wedding anniversary and decided last minute to find a hotel close to Ocean Beach. The Seal Rock Inn had one room available, #301, which turned out to be absolutely perfect. Spacious, wonderfully dated and kitchy and a view of the Pacific! Yes, the place is outdated, but that's part of the charm.... More

We thought this hotel was somewhat historic and a landmark. It may be, but it also is run down and needs updating. The room was basically a bad motel room. Just old decor and seemed dirty and dingy. The shower was re-done but that was it. On the positive side, we had a nice ocean view and it was right... More

Our family was very happy at this hotel and would stay there again. We enjoyed the ocean, beautiful walking trails and scenery after a long day of sightseeing in the city. We took the Geary bus from the hotel to the tourist areas of San Francisco which worked out well. The building and grounds were well kept and the restaurant... More

My husband and I like this motel. We have stayed previously and are looking forward to staying again in October. It is located up the hill from the Cliff house, ocean views from the 3rd floor (which have fireplaces), and convenient to the city.

I really would love to give this place a five star rating as it appears to be a family-owned enterprise, in a great location. But, I just can't. As it is, the two stars is a bit generous. POSITIVES: - Like many other reviewers have noted -this is a near-perfect location. Partial views of the ocean, walking distance to many... More

We had an ocean view room with a fireplace, for under $200. It is really quite a deal for the city. It is an older place, family owned for generations and is not elegant but is quite adequate and the location is great. You can tour the Cliffhouse and Sutro baths by foot, and you are a short ride from... More

The hotel rooms' big bank of windows provide picturesque views of the Sutro Heights District. Steps away is the 1.7 mile Land's End Coastal Trail which follows the route of the train that once brought visitors to the Sutro Baths. Now it is a pleasant nature trail. Look for whales & the Golden Gate Bridge. I accidentally ran into a... More

Hard to find affordable places in San Fran but this spot is just right if u don't need lush. Older but newly renovated bathrooms, right across Pacific Ocean with fantastic views, close to Golden Gate Bridge. Can catch the bus to anywhere from the doorstep. Restaurant little pricey but good food. Would come back for sure.
