This is a busy, huge property, with heavy lobby activity all day and most night/ The rooms are average size and relatively clean, but nothing spectacular. This is my second stay in two months, and the first one I had a wonderful view. The second time I stayed a week and had a horrible view! Overlooked a rooftop and no... More

I recently attended a medical convention where the Marriott Marquis was the Headquarters Hotel. The hotel structurally is fine with the staff being most accommodating. However, after traveling 3000 miles from the New York metro area to San Francisco, I was tired, fatigued, and hungry when I arrived at the hotel on Friday afternoon. Traditionally, in my travels throughout the... More

I was here for a conference. The room was okay with a nice view of the atrium. I have had better beds and showers, and worse. It was high average. As many reviews mention, this hotel has accessibility issues if walking is a problem. I'll start with arrival. The parking garage is a fair walk from the lobby, accessed by... More

I was torn between a 4 and 5, so I'm thinking 4.5 is more appropriate. I just needed a hotel for a couple nights while my father was having surgery in SF. The Marriott Marquis wasn't close to the hospital, but I got tired of searching for a needle in a haystack so I took the plunge and chose to... More

Maybe I shouldn't gripe about this on Trip Advisor, since our personal baseball preference probably has a somewhat narrow audience of interest from out-of-towners. On the other hand.....really!?!.....they don't offer the Giants games when they play just a few blocks down the street!?! C'mon Marriott Marquis, cough up the extra money to get the games. We had to go across... More

We spent three nights at the Marriott- the room was lovely, the lobby is beautiful and the staff makes you feel very special. They cater to your requests, answer all questions and even have cabs available in the front of the building. We had a fabulous breakfast buffet and all my requests were granted. It can't get much better.

This hotel is in a great location with easy access to shopping, restaurants, tours and more. The rooms are very nice. All employees were helpful and happy. Don't miss the view from the bar on the 39th floor. Breathtaking!

We are long-time Marriott Elite-level travelers, but this was our first stay at this property. To tell the truth, we were concerned about some of the other TA reviews, but decided to stay anyway and were totally delighted that we did. For us, this hotel delivered all around. Our experience with the Elite check-in desk was excellent, professional, and very... More

The hotel nice for it's view of the city. Check in was professional and quick. Rooms were ready when we needed it. Traveling with 9 year old. Loved the view of the city. We were up on the 25th floor. Requested a refrigerator. Called multiple times and spoke to different people and still no delivery of a refrigerator. Windows were... More

hotel is a nice hotel, room was spacious and nicely decorated. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel near shopping and two blocks to catch the cable car. Early check in was not a problem. Would highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
