Having stayed at The Opal Hotel for two nights, I could vouch for the genuine and sincere service from its staff. They are very helpful and would always take the time to give out information most travelers would need. I also stayed in one of their newly-renovated Room 505 and It was a delight to wake up in such a... More

San Francisco is an expensive town to visit, note that the Opal is a basic hotel, we paid an average of $219 per night. Good location for buses. We thought the breakfast is terrible: paperplates, cold food, not geared toward healthy eating, not even milk for the coffee, cold eggs, sugary yogurt. It is located at the edge of the... More

I had no idea how expensive it can be to stay anywhere in San Francisco until we traveled there. This hotel is not in the best part of town but it's still not as bad as one would think. They charge you for parking (they pretty much do that at all the hotels even if your room is over $200)... More

The Opal was the best we could afford at the time, since SF is expensive, but it didn't disappoint. The staff were helpful and friendly, the room was basic, but clean and perfectly serviceable. The breakfast which is served in a room on the ground floor is filling and tasty. The Tenderloin isn't a pretty place when the sun goes... More

Stayed there for 2 night in August of 2014. The location is A- (not too close but still 20 min walking distance to Union Sq. and Moscone Ctr.) The breakfast was pretty good and very convenient. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the room was facing the yard so not much noise from the street. They offer parking:... More

Ahhh-- how to say this. It was affordable, in central location in SF. That being said, unbelievably noisy every night after 3 am or so, trash trucks make incredible noise . You will wake up every hour until you give up or fall back to sleep around 5:30. Wifi undependable. OK continental breakfast. Plan to take a taxi after dark.... More

I stayed here for two nights in August of 2014, it is about as average of a hotel as you can get. The absolute most important thing to know about it, is that it is very close to a sketchy and potentially dangerous part of SF know as the Tenderloin. The hotel itself is safe (lots of car dealerships etc.... More

We stumbled on to this hotel by accident. What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. Though our stay was short, we liked it very much cos the staff took great care of us , especially Mr Peter . He was the night manager . The room was clean and spacious. It was very quiet at night. I would... More

Stayed here for two nights at the end of our trip. Nice clean hotel although the room linens are dated. Very friendly staff. Light continental breakfast included which is not common in the area. Attached to a restaurant which was nice. On site parking is worth it.
