If you absolutely cannot find another room in SF, you may end up here. If so, please prepared to step over the numerous bums and pan handlers that line the street along what is arguably the worst area of an otherwise beautiful city. Admittedly, the fact that I had to pay $239 a night due to a large convention in... More

Hotel was nice, centrally located to what we wanted to see and do. Restaurant attached was nice. Room was quite small for 4 people, trouble getting room cool enough to sleep, ice machine broke on our floor. For the price hotel was good enough!!

My daughter and I stayed the weekend here and found it met our needs at our price range. Compared to a few hotels I have stayed at in South America, it is the lap of luxury. Although it is on the edge of the Tenderloin and has a lot of homeless around, we felt safe and the surroundings were those... More

HOTEL WHITCOMB is a Historic, old hotel and that is part of why I stay here. Price is really good, ($416.67 total for 3 nights, Single). Location to BART station, (for early a.m. flight departures from SFO or arrival from Richmond transfer station with CAPITOL CORRIDOR train from Sacramento), is just steps away. "SAM'S DINER" is right across the street... More

Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel for 8 nights this month. It wasn't our first choice but due to booking so last minute this was one of few available. I was worried about stopping here after reading a few reviews on here, but wasn't at all as bad as I'd originally thought. We checked in about 8pm after... More

Stayed here for 2 nights for work. The hotel has nicely appointed rooms, and comfortable bed. Not much common space in the lobby though. It is a historical hotel. The gym was rundown and looked dangerous, but I found an excellent new gym around the corner.

This place is simply disgusting. From the dilapidated area surrounding this historic property, to the worn down furniture in the lobby, to the dark and dingy hallways, and the musty rooms with poor lighting and noisy air conditioning units. From top to bottom and left to right. This place is just disgusting. If this is the only hotel available. You... More

I stay in this hotel on business sometimes. I like the location, convenient to all public transportation. I ask for a room away from Market Street and am always satisfied. Front desk staff is friendly abd efficient. Althought, sometimes they are short staffed and I have to wait longer then I would like.

Stayed here for 3 days. Room smelled like bleach. I lost my charger cause of the housekeeper and they accused me of taking it. Worst service ever. The location was fine near the Bart. Just find a better place and spend a bit more money.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
