I have been around the world including 3rd world countries and I have never had a worst experience. The hotel smells, so much that I could sleep. The room was dirty and the bed had no support.

Stayed for 6 nights on business, and couldn't have really asked for anything more. Buses are right outside and there is an entrance to the BART right there also. Rolando and Esmerelda checked me in quick and answered any questions I had. The rooms are a little old, but not without some charm (high ceilings, comfortable beds...but crappy TV/tiny shower).... The lobby is beautiful and historic. The employees were great. I was able to store my luggage well after I checked out and use a private location to change clothes. The rooms were medium clean and the walls were scared with patches and small holes were stuff was once hung. But the vintage fixtures and bathroom were a refreshing change... More

As soon as my shuttle stopped in front of the hotel, I knew I picked the right place to spend my time in the Bay Area. Location: Close to a public transit (BART) which was a plus since I had to visit some relatives in the east bay. Price: Affordable especially for a historic hotel. Service: Excellent Customer Service!! The... More

My family and I stayed at The Hotel Whitcomb while we toured the city of SF. We checked in on a late Friday afternoon thinking it would be a long process since they seemed busy. But I was wrong. I was accommodated by a nice gentleman who was very professional and polite. We were checked in right away and have... More

The magnificent lobby gives you the big hint that you are in an unusual setting, in a different era of gracious hospitality. Once you interact with the courteous, efficient staff, you know that your instincts were right on the mark. Of course, if your personal taste trends toward large-chain, cookie-cutter uniformity, this is not for you. The location, often derided... More

about this hotel or its staff. Lobby beautiful, rooms nice but a bit bare with no coffee/tea or refrigerator. But a good bed and water pressure. A flat screen TV would be an upgrade for this hotel. Only problem, which was beyond the control of the hotel, was the street resurfacing project that went all night with the scraping and... More

Nothing bad to say about this hotel or the restaurant attached. It looks stunning inside and the staff are helpful. Indeed, so helpful that when asked the concierge got us into a great restaurant 15 minutes walk away and the best table they had. So many thanks for that ladies help and all the help we were given, from the... More

What a fabulous hotel we stumbled upon! I love craftsman homes, with character this hotel is the 1920's, updated. On the lower end price wise, we spent $160 for one saturday night, I WILL be coming back with my husband, the hotel was just beautiful, nostalgic, and a starbucks in the lobby! If you are looking for modern dont stay... More
