My experience here was terrible. The rooms are old, smelled really bad, services were provided by arrogant A-ha less and you're going to stay around a bunch of crackheads. There was even vomit in the lobby carpet, I've watched the security guy beat the hell out of a hobo in front of the hotel and going the Starbucks in the... More

I was very happy with my stay here. The entire place is very grand, clean and comfortable. Despite being a little dated, I'd have no problems recommending this hotel. It is on the cusp of the run down area of Tenderloin. There are homeless people on the streets near by, but no one bothered myself and friends. Older travellers or... More

We stayed at this hotel one night because it was fairly affordable ( to SF standards). It did the job for a one night stay but I dont think I would stay here for a full vacation. The rooms are quite small and the restrooms are closet sized. You can literally pee, wash your hands, and shower all at the... More

This hotel was beautiful to the eye. Massive glass chandeliers an marble floors and walls gave the hotel a lot of class, however. it was old. took about 10 mins to wait for the elevator. The Bell boys had uniforms on that were so old they were faded and ripped. The "free" breakfast was the most foul food i had... More

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself is quite nice. It is on the Historic registry. The lobby is old San Francisco, meaning that you go back in time about 100 years to a grander time. My room was very nice, I upgraded to a superior room, and I... More

Worst Hotel In the World By Far.....I have stayed in hotels in small towns and dirty places but this is by farrrrr the worst place on earth. Dirty, rude, creepy, smelly, the front desk people want to kill you and are sooooo bad..OMG. and on top of it all they will not let you leave. We came on our romantic... More

This place was a little pricey, but that is the way with most midrange accommodation in San Francisco just on the fringe of downtown. It is a 15 minute walk away from Union Square and a 40-50 minute walk to pier 39. The bed was huge and comfy, bedroom serviced promptly each day and reception is open 24/7.

We had a group of 5 attend a conference in San Francisco and they stayed at this hotel for $349 per night. They complained about the smell of urine outside of the hotel (it is unfortunately in an area with a dense homeless population), the air conditioning was very loud, there were very few plugs in the room and those... A wonderful stay at a charming hotel; fantastic historic building with lots of character. Excellent central location for theater, shopping, dining and nightlife. Very friendly staff who were able to help me learn my way around the city as a first-time visitor. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet and a great rate!

We came to San Francisco for a wedding and decided to extend our stay to take in the sights of the city and the Californian Coast. Finding a good hotel in an unknown place is never easy, but we were very lucky ending up at the Whitcomb. Our check in was superb, and they moved us to a room with... More
