Was a bit disappointed in my stay. I understand it's San Francisco and the location of the hotel is pretty great, but at the nightly rate we paid it certainly wasn't something I'd look to do again. The rooms were basic. The service was nice We overheard the hotel would be renovated which I guess would be nice. The most... More

The location is good, the hotel is old but has it charms if you try hard enough to see them but is REALLY OLD, my room was indeed quite depressing (as expected, having consulted reviews beforehand), the staff is great for the most part - chipper and perky, some a bit on the fake side but hey, the elevator was... I have stayed in Kimpton properties in New York City many times and have had overall great experiences. When I was looking for a place to stay for the last three days of a long trip trip I was floored by the super high prices for hotels in San Francisco. The chain hotels like Hilton and Marriott were over $400... More

This hotel is in a great location and there were some very good things. The staff was very friendly, there were many electrical outlets in the room for my numerous gadgets, the wifi was very strong (free since I am a Kimpton member), the bed was very good and the shower in my room was super strong. The negatives: the... More

The good: Staff was mostly friendly, helpful and polite. The bad: We were not pre advised that the hotel would be undergoing renevations. Noisy, banging, voices, hammering, laughing, dropped tools, drilling, and on and on...workers placed a generator on the street right in front of the hotel and the exhaust came right into the hotel. We could smell the fumes... More

Great location- great customer service. Pay a little extra for club level if you enjoy a cocktail at 5 rather than a glass of wine. They were closing for renovation within a few days. We missed having a restaurant on premise but they had plenty of great suggestions within walking distance. Really great location.

Short walking distance to Union Square, plenty of restaurants too. If you join any of the local tours, a lot of them have the meeting place within 100 metres walk from the hotel, so it is handy. Nice room with comfy bed. Being an old building with 2 old elevators (at the time 1 was not working) it could take... More

Lovely 100-year old building very close to Union Square, China Town and the start of the cable car lines. Lots of character but some of the rooms can seem a little musty, and the floorboards creak badly. The hotel does some lovely touches - such as ice cold, flavoured water for free near reception, fruit and tea/coffee in the morning,... More

Our family spent seven days at the Prescott in July 2015. While the hotel is located in an excellent area near Union Square, it is in dire need of a refresh. Kimpton has one scheduled for later in the year so all is well. Even though an upfit is in order, this in no way resulted in a negative experience... More

Hotel is in an excellent location- close to shops and great restaurants. Complimentary happy hour, night cap, fruit and cookies!! Very hospitable. Staff are lovely. Rooms are very comfortable. The only suggestion is have breakfast before 9am. If you arrive later, they run out of everything and there is very little left!
