We flew into San Francisco and were winging it,calling hotels from the airport, not knowing it was Pride Week in SF and everything was booked! So when we found a room here, even though it was expensive(by our standards) and in a bad neighborhood, we grabbed it. Orlando at the desk is amazing-guaranteed to lower your stress level and clue you in... More

This is an old motor in converted into a boutique hotel. The staff was extremely warm and helpful. Our room, while not luxurious was fairly large and vey comfortable! Was surprised by a very continental breakfast and good coffee.

The Phoenix hotel puts the FUN in FUNKY! Ideal place to stay if you're going to a concert or show downtown and want to start pre-jamming in your room. The only downside is its in the Ternderloin and the walk back to your room can get sketchy. Don't leave anything in your car, and don't talk to strangers. LADIES, don't... More

They call it the rock star hotel for a reason. Some rooms have musical instruments in them . Cute little pool to relax in. Rock art in all the rooms. Front desk has always been helpful and quick to check in. I have stayed here a few times and it's always been good.

Being from the UK the drive through down town San Francisco was a bit intimidating having just got off the plane. The immediate environs outside the hotel are grim, but don't be put off because inside it is an oasis. The staff were all really friendly. The outside pool is heated and easily warm enough to swim in despite the... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Phoenix Hotel and thought the hotel itself was fantastic with a lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff. The design/theme was cool, the bed was lovely and it has a nice pool/outside area. The only minor negatives I would say were the surrounding streets being a little rough with afew tramps/druggies nearby but we... More

Loved this small boutique-style hotel in the heart of the city. We were totally won over by the staff. Although a renovated 50s-style motel, it had a lot of charm. Was nice to be able to step out of your room to breakfast set out on the patio in the outdoor "common area".

stayed at the Phoenix for work for two weeks in March. the staff was super friendly and helpful with any questions about SF: where to go, area maps, good assessment of walking distances... the rooms are spacious and comfortable. the wifi was seamless, even for work video calls. the pool is exactly what you need during sunny days (bonus points... We only stayed here one night, but so glad we did. It is a very charming and eclectic old motor lodge that has become a hotspot for the millenium and x-generation. The theme is clearly centered around the San Francisco rock music culture. The rooms are well appointed. Although we had requested an early check-in we did have to wait... More
