Over our four day stay we met quite a few members of staff, all of which we're happy to help, provide maps and directions and suggest places to visit. Out room was very comfortable - large bed, desk area and a good sized bathroom. We didn't eat at the hotel as there were so many options in the city however... More

stayed at the Phoenix for three nights in early August and absolutely loved it. considering this hotel used to be a motor lodge, its beautifully updated with modern rock n roll inspired items. Chambers restaurant and bar was delicious, i highly recommend eating there!

I've just booked this place for a 3rd time and I'm sure it won't be my last. Cute rooms, very comfortable beds, centrally located, colorful neighborhood, and ahhhhhhmazing customer service. It's hard to not fall in love with the little details like hand-written welcome notes and a complimentary beverage. The wifi and docking stations are also a nice touch, as... More

The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, the pool area is gorgeous, and the hotel itself is a bohemian work of art. This is a rockstar hotel, for artists and poets. Hemingway would have stayed here. Kerouac would have stayed here. Yes, there is noise well into the night. This is not the Marriott. This is for connecting with other... More

LOCATION, HOSPITALITY and AMBIENCE are why I stay at The Phoenix 4 times a year when I visit from NYC. I prefer it over hotels in touristy areas downtown I stayed at in the past. LOCATION: The authenticity and diversity of the Tenderloin neighborhood is big plus for me. Centrally located, it's convenient for visiting Union Square and the Embarcadero... More

We came into the city to see an opera and chose the Phoenix due to its convenient location. The hotel is an oasis in the Tenderloin. Once you're behind the gates you feel a world away from the hustle and bustle. The front desk staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Our room was well-appointed except for the... More

We stayed here a weekend and had a great time here. This old motel has a very nice quiet courtyard with a great pool, a free breakfast table with muffins and coffee, and a great restaurant. Only downsides is the noise level during the weekend nights and the neighborhood to the east... It's probably best to take a cab most... More

Great hotel this, had a great old motel feel to it with a really cool and child out vibe Beds were huge and really comfy, strong wifi and I even loved the free coffee and buns in the morning. We are at the restaurant one night and loved the food here too Only downside is the location of the hotel,... More

Easy walk to centre of town, and very accessible public transport. Wifi was excellent, very strong and no dropouts! Very comfortable bed, and excellent sized room - you weren't tripping over own luggage, and tho I stayed their solo, a companion's bags also would have been out of the way. I had been warned about it being in Tenderloin, but... More

While the Tenderloin is sketchy and often depressing, Phoenix Hotel was a good and affordable place to hang out and rest my head during my business trip to San Francisco. The Internet was free and strong. The employees were gracious and helpful. And the room was spacious. You do hear other guests but that's more a factor of the glass... More
