The front desk is amazing, the staff so helpful and friendly. And then you get to the pool and courtyard, and it's like time warping back to the 70's but the good part. The rooms are funky, fun and comfortable. If you are looking for a Courtyard or a Hampton Inn this is not the place for you, if you... More

Of all the 9 hotels we stayed in during our honeymoon tour of the West, this was our favourite. Yes, the neighbourhood is not great, and requires some skilful road crossing at certain times, but in terms of its proximity to key bus and tram routes, this hotel cannot be faulted. It's also fabulously retro, and furnished in such a... More

Me and my 3 friends had a wonderful time, the staff was exceptional from the beginning. I had a number of questions prior to booking and they took the time to patiently answer all of the questions. While we were at the hotel front desk staff was warm and accommodating. we look forward to coming back.

So we started our visit here being greeted by the one and only Orlando whom I read about in other reviews. What a genuinely cool and caring person. He made us feel at home right off the bat! But so is Patrick and the rest of the staff we dealt with! This hotel has a great Vibe to it, the... More

This was our third stay at the Phoenix Hotel. Wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting the Bay Area. Staff was knowledgeable about suggesting transportation for July 4th celebration. We can't say enough about the hotel staff. Made us feel like family.

It was the first of 6 hotels we stayed at during our US trip, and still our favourite. Great room, great common space / pool area, nice friendly guests and crew and non-crowded feel. And great food. BUT - the neighbourhood is rough. I knew it was rough, and I grew up in Rio so am used to homeless people,... More

Amazing sleeper hotel near Civic Center and Tenderloin. Free parking. Incredible heated pool (86*) where I watched the 4th of July fireworks. This hotel is a gem among boring corporate hotels throughout this area. Staff were friendly and have great insider knowledge about the city and nightlife. No question that I'll be back.

Very inviting atmosphere within the hotel area. The pool, sitting, party area is classy, unique and intriguing but loud. On the street there is a mix of buzzed hipsters and homeless folks yelling to themselves. As far as the yellers go - this has been my experience any city. Some people might be more offended by the hipsters (lol). I... More

Hi Mrsfavre, Wow, thank you for such an awesome and heartfelt review and for staying with us! I am thrilled to hear that you had a great stay and that you were able take a dip and relax poolside. It is so true that we are in the most colorful part of the city from the hipsters to those down... More

We flew into San Francisco and were winging it,calling hotels from the airport, not knowing it was Pride Week in SF and everything was booked! So when we found a room here, even though it was expensive(by our standards) and in a bad neighborhood, we grabbed it. Orlando at the desk is amazing-guaranteed to lower your stress level and clue you in... More
